anyone running GB-PVR on Windows 7 x64 ?

interesting. basically you used native card drivers and simply installed GB-PVR ? anything else was required? forgive me, but it was some time when i did a fresh install of GB-PVR and forgot what it needs ... did it scream for anything during install? asking because i tried to install same stuff i used to install for it on XP/VISTA but those were not compatible obviously...

For me it was working best on XP (32 or 64 bit no matter), on vista i had stupid problem of audio becoming slightly off sync after e.g. 1 or 2 hours of watching same channel straight (it fixes itself upon channel change though). also sometimes GB-PVR was freezing for me under Vista when switching channels from analog to digital source or vice versa (never happened on XP) and screaming about DEP error and app needed to close (quite rare with latest GB-PVR).

I'm very curious how it will be running on W7 .. hoping for best!

GBPVR has been running great on Win7 x86 for me. I was running x64 and everything was fine except I was getting the audio out of sync as well (also had the same issue with Vista but it was more prevelant in Win7), so I loaded the 32 bit version. Turned out that the issue was having the wrong "default output" set on the sound card properties. Fenix, try setting your default output format to "48000/16".

As for the always wanting to load the MS decoders, that is only in MS written apps (or maybe WPF apps) like Media Center and Media Player. It doesn't happen in GBPVR or GraphStudio.

CPU usage on Windows 7 while playing video with DXVA2 seems vastly improved over Vista, and I thought it was really good on Vista.

thanks whurlston! it really seems to fix the audio out of sync issue in vista. 48000/16bit it is (DVD quality) and no more problems for about an hour now on same channel, still testing though.

later i will try running it on w7x64 (7229 build).

Good questions. In Windows 7 x64 I had to install MONOGRAM for AAC-HE audio and an H.264 decoder to get live TV working, but I hardly ever watch live TV. I also installed the Windows Update driver for my card, and the latest version of the drivers from the Hauuppauge web site - before I tried GB-PVR.

I use GB-PVR a bit differently to everyone else, and forgot to mention that. Because I need to select the second audio stream to get DD 5.1 for TV3, I watch my recorded files by browsing and opening them in VLC - which allows me to select audio streams. So, I don't know whether audio drifting has been resolved, sorry.

So my experience is that Win7 is at least as good as VISTA for GB-PVR for the way I use it - purely for back-end recording.

I have found if I playback a h264 Video it uses the built in decoder (which stutters for me). I don't have a 1212, so don't do TV in h264. So Live TV plays differently then Videos?

I only wanted to confirm that audio out of sync was corrected by selecting Vista-control panel-sound-speakers-properties-advanced-48000/16bit (DVD quality) instead of default 48000/24bit (Studio quality). I followed same advice for W7.
Also that issue relates to LiveTV only and was not present when watching pre-recorded content.

i don't use h.264 codec at all, only codec package i use is CCCP and from there i mostly use ffdshow for audio/video/ac3 decoders. the rest is all System Default with one exception for Vista only: as Audio Renderer i needed to choose "Speakers (Realtek HD)" becuase on "System Default" i had no sound.
on the other hand both XP and W7 play audio fine on same 5.1 speakers when using System Default selection for audio renderer, probably some vista glitch.

as for w7, in deed installation of GB-PVR was all i needed and it works and i was able to watch analog TV content. although i wasn't able to fire up Digital Tuner yet (same TV card, second capture source). perhaps i need to rescan QAM channels and remap them (i copied config file from vista so far, was lazy...).

The only H.264 files I play are Bluray m2ts files (no H.264 Live TV since I'm in the US as well) and they get played using the MPC-HC video decoder. It may be because the MS decoders can't play them (bitrate is too high) which is why I haven't seen the issue.

Great. You don't know how many OS re-installs, decoders and configurations I went through before I figured that out.

I tried that and it didn't work for me. I found another that renames the built in codec, and that works. I found it at Hacking Windows7 MediaCenter at
http://www.hack7mc.com/ BTW are you using the built in codec or did you replace it?
