It recorded the avi in 320 mbps mp3. Anyway I can set this to 128 mbps instead?

I've not found a way to set this, but I'm continuing to look for options.

The recording works but I still get this strange error messages.

Hello.
Because of this enoying probems I finally decided to completely reinstall my system.
I formated my C: drive and installed Windows XP SP2, including all available updates.
Except for windows I installed just the applications neccessary to run GBPVR.

Guess what. I still get the same problems.

1. error message in GBPVRRECORDINGSERVICE-native.log

VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Plextor ConvertX TV402U Tuner

2. The Audio sounds like it is using an "underwater effect".
The Video is shifted on the screen - showing the upper 1/3 of the picture on the bottom of the screen.

The only thing I did not experience yet was the hanging recording service.

You can safely ignore that - its normal. There is two possible names that the drivers could be installed as on your machine. The warning above is generated as it tests the first set of names, and doesnt find it. It'll then use a slightly different name and succeed. If it didnt succeed on the second attempt, you'd see another two lines.

I must admit I dont know. If start the software that came with your device, view a channel, the close the app and open GB-PVR, does it come right?

Thats right. After viewing a channel in either gocab or WINDVD creator the picture and sound are fine again in GBPVR.

Sub, any progress on the bit rate encoding for the MP3 audio stream in the latest release. I'd like to move to it, but don't want to mess with anything that is already working well enough for me. If the bitrate encoding has been fixed, then I might give the latest release a try as it'll solve a couple of issues I have with playing the recordings on a DSM-320. It really doesn't like the 320 bitrate.
