Quote:The cable connection feeds into the DTA unit and the DTA feeds the HVR1950 tuner.
When you connect it this way, no digital signals are present in the coax being feed to the HVR1950. The only thing on the coax is the one analog channel being modulated from the DTA. All the digital channels stopped at the DTA. As mentioned by the others, you need to remove the DTA so that the cable connection (and all the digital channels it contains) goes directly to the HVR1950.

Sorry again guys - I should have read that posting more carefully. That said, thanks for your help as I now have QAM channels showing in WinTV (HVR 1950) scans. However, none of the repeated scans in GBPVR show anything and it will periodicaly crash the machine. I've just read some other posts and see that this is also an issue with the HVR 1800. Is the GBPVR system not processing the same information as WinTV? I hope there is a remedy. BGD

Did you apply the patches from the survival guide thread?

Sub - no I haven't applied the patch because I'm running an earlier version of GBPVR (ver 1.0.16). I wasn't sure if upgrading would cause issues because the PC I'm using doesn't have a video card to support the newer menu system. BGD

To be honest, you're probably out of luck if its crashing on such an old version.

The Overlay renderer should work on older video cards, unless we're talking really old.

I've done the upgrade and ended up putting everything on a different machine which can handle the newer menu (the PVRX2 menu will not work on the other PC). WinTV looks great (can scan QAM channels) and GBPVR ver 1.3.11 is up and running with patches. When I try to scan in GBPVR I get a message "GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured..." There is no contention for the HVR1950 and it is working correctly...did I miss a patch or option? BGD

that would usually mean that something else is accessing the tuner, or that you don't have the driver installed correctly. since wintv is able to scan channels, I'm assuming it's somehow still accessing the card. did you try rebooting the machine and running gb-pvr config before doing anything else? maybe un-install Wintv?

you could post your config and config-native logs, but I assume they'll just say the same thing.

You'll probably need to post the logs so I can see why it couldnt start the device.
