SFX Group Wrote:Mainly as when you turn on the MVP it works without the need for OS updates, firmware updates and clients, other than that the PCH is great (not that ive used it), i prefer the easy "plug it in, find the server, it works" system of the MVP, so i will be waiting for the HD MVP.

I'm very confused the PCH doesn't need OS updates, firmware update only provide added functionality and bug fixes which Hauppauge stopped, and several people opt for the mvpmc "client" of the Hauppage. The mvpmcx2 forum is full of obsolete posts that are relevant to how the install is today. The biggest problem is now most certainly the same as with the MVP, playing remote media.

Also i don't have any arcsoft codecs listed in the advanced codecs section of the config utility - could this be the reason? How do I get the arcsoft codes to be listed there?

Thanks

This is my current experience as well. I've got the HD-PVR installed, updated drivers and recording fine. Arcsoft swr installed and updated as well. Records fine and can be viewed in arcSoft but just get the black screen in GBPVR. I also do not have the arc soft codecs available in my dropdown. Only ffdshow and system default.

How can I get the ArcSoft codecs in there? I've reloaded Arcsoft 3 times no to no avail.

Maybe you're using an older config.xml file that doesn't have the Arcsoft decoders listed as supported decoders.

I've attached a snippet of my config.xml file with the supported decoders. Hope this helps.

I looked at my config.xml and the supported codecs all seem to be in there.
I attached my "snippet"

The newer versions of the Arcsoft software does not allow other applications to use the decoders. I managed to get this working by registering the files manually but I forget which ones I registered. I'll have a look later. Although I got this working, I was never able to get it stable.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the original ArcSoft version on CD (previously had upgraded to the current right after install) and no changes - I still can't see the ArcSoft decoders so I still can't watch my hd recordings yet in GBPVR.

I also downloaded the nativeutilities patch.dll. Is there anything else I need to do with it besides replacing the existing one?

Any other ideas?

You can use a program such as gspot to see if the Arcsoft DirectShow filters are actually registered.

You can try manually registering the filter (*.ax) files. Google "regsvr32 codec" to find out how.

I don't have a list of Arcsoft filter files handy, as my media pc is being formatted.

You can try the Cyberlink h.264 decoder.

Hope this helps.

You may need to add "ArcSoft Video Decoder" to the "SupportedH264Decoders" sections of your config.xml

I can't remember if it was listed when 1.3.11 was released. If it's already in there, run "regsvr32 ASVid.ax" from a command line in the ArcSoft codec folder.

In the config you can try out the different video renderers. Some work better than others due to different hardware, os, etc.

Click on the ... for H.264 decoder and try turning off DXVA 2.0 and 1.0. I had to do this on mine to fix something with the decoder but I can't remember what it was. Also on that screen check what the version of the decoder is. Mine is 2.25.82.43 and it works fine with 3rd party apps.

If you haven't already you should also install all the patches on the survival guide.
