Maybe its too early yet.. but I bet at some point we could use an Internet TV section. Perhaps this thread will spin off some ideas though..

What are you doing wrt internet tv type shows ?

This has come a long way, quietly in the background. I was amazed at how much ITV is available. Anything from a single video of some retard jumping off of his shed into a tree (ala youtube etc), to small budget shows in regular appearance (some on youtube/etc, some have their own websites), to bigger budget shows (wanna-be tv channels almost..), to the niche pros (like NASA, PBS, MTV, etc), all the way to torrents feeds of current tv shows (Low risk so far), and movies (higher risk nowdays).

Some shows are pretty low res (the youtube et al), but there's alot of good-res (500+) and even HD out there.. free for the taking.. some pro-sumer guys doing HD video of Alaska trips etc.. and of course the NASA Spitzer and Hubble stuff..)

One way to gather all these together into a folder that you can associate with GBPVR, is to use an aggregator for rss files.. like Juice or Miro etc. Leave one of these apps running, and it will fill up a tree on your hd pretty fast.. with videos that GBPVR can process (treat your 'Videos' menu like a bunch of channels)

Who's playin with this.. Im thinking theres a few anyhow..

Internet is not new to GBPVR. You might want to check out UbuStream http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/UbuStream2 It's a great piece of code but it's hard to configure now because it is legacy code. Also it never attracted enough people to require it's own forum.

I think a forum for Internet would primarily be filled with posts about localized services like Hulu, Netflix, BBCiPlayer and sub should probably just leave those to plugin developers.

HI, I would like to use what you're describing. Any chance I could have a copy of the exe you mentioned elsewhere that coverts the downloaded files to MPG?

Cheers, Julian.

@Martin
I'm not sure how far Ubustream dug into this.. I tried installing it, then modifying some stuff in my setup to get it to work, broke things, and ended up doing a GBPVR reinstall. I saw your post wrt skins for UBu, but Ive moved to Community Skin now (sweet!).. so I guess Im getting further away from Ubustream. Maybe some people are using the rss/video portion of it still ?

@Julian
I sent the rar to your email. Thats the version for Juice. It processes the files one at a time as they finish downloading via a command line call from Juice. You can set the ffmpeg options in the ini file. It doesnt seem to work on swf files at this time (ffmpeg support). I also sent the source code in Autohotkey in case you want to look at it/modify it.
I'm considering switching back to Miro now though, and that requires a different exe file. It sweeps the dL folders looking for non-mpeg files. I'll revisit that script today, probably have it done by tonite.

Found a huge collection of videos (~200,000) at the Internet Archive.
http://www.archive.org/details/movies
Drill down from there. Each section has its own rss feed link.

@wodger

I sent a copy of Mpegmaker4miro to your email just now.
I think Miro is a more mature app for these feeds. (getmiro.com)

edit: I put a copy of it on my Autohotkey web storage
http://www.autohotkey.net/~Dave72/mpegma...r4miro.rar

Edit the ini file for your setup. Comments welcome.

Repaired some bugs (handling of spaces in the filenames mainly).
Current version 0.16
http://www.autohotkey.net/~Dave72/mpegmaker4miro/

Added: Current version now 0.17
- added a drag and drop function.. can drop a video file onto the exe, and it will use the ffmpeg params as stored in the ini file, and output the new .mpeg into the *same* folder as the source ('dropped') file. Useful for testing new ffmpeg params.
