I've been using GBPVR to record TV at home for a number of years. So I'm familiar with the program.

However in a new application, I'm using the current build in a Vista 64 bit environment to record a live camera. As the administrator, I've configured (and get) the S-video feed with LiveTV, but the recording doesn't save in the recording directory. It does show up in the LiveTV buffer directory (until it's eventually deleted. -Also, I believe you can use a remote setup to save it, but I don't have one). Why won't it save in the recording directory?

I've search the forums but couldn't find anything.

Thanks!!

I think we'll need more info and probably the logs. How are you asking it to record? Do you have a manual recording set up or a fake TV guide with programs in it?

Your answer helped me I think. I tried the manual recording again and it worked (don't know why it didn't work the first time I tried it)...saved the file in the correct recordings directory. But I would prefer to be able to save the LiveTV recording in a directory that doesn't automatically delete the file (is that possible w/o a remote?), or create a fake TV guide.

One other problem. It works in an admin user account, but not in a non-admin account. It seems to freeze. Task manager says it's running, but keyboard or mouse input is unresponsive. I think i've uploaded the logs from the "freeze."

Well I figured out the freeze problem was a gbpvr.db3 permissions issue. So it now longer "freezes." HOWEVER, now when I click Live TV, Ctrl-K, and choose either "record till exit" or "record for a time length" the liveTV cancels and it goes back to the Main Menu. The "record for a time length" does seems to record, b/c if I go back to LiveTV, I get the window of choosing not to watch or watch the live feed.

I've checked the logs, but don't know enough/can't figure out what went wrong. Could someone check them for me and give me a clue? Thanks!!

I had some time to search through the logs; Here's the error:

2009-08-08 19:23:15.068 VERBOSE [1] RecordingFactory.loadScheduleRecordingByOID()
2009-08-08 19:23:15.072 ERROR [1] Unexpected error stopping recording: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at GBPVRX2.Players.x977e0aa739bd29d7.stop()
2009-08-08 19:23:15.074 VERBOSE [1] EnableScreenSaver()

The Wiki says that this is due to not having a compatible MPEG2 decoder installed OR is a plugin conflict. But if it works properly under administrator, doesn't that mean the codec is installed? (And I'm not using any plugins other than those that are installed by default.)

I've been playing around with it and if I uncheck "Use Live preview mode if possible" recording works properly in the non-admin account. However, I would very much like to use that if possible.
