Was this an analog recording?

I would try setting your audio renderer back to 'system default' to see if it makes any difference.

The Intervideo decoder you've chosen for video is refusing to hook up, causing it to add to an addition video decoder, and having two in the graph may cause problems. Same deal with audio. Try a different set of decoders.

No analog on the computer - strictly digital TV.

So if I went to "System Default" on both audio and video, that would work?

Only if the system default decoders on your machine are good. GB-PVR doesnt ship with any decoders, and relies on the decoders you supply.

You try setting the 'audio renderer' back to system default though, because this is a common cause of stalled playback.

So how is the MPEG-2 Playback pull-down on the "Playback" page in GB Setup populated? Is it pre-set in the software, or does it look on my system to see what decoders are available?

I'll do that when I get a chance.

There is a list of known decoders in config.xml. The decoder lists in the config app are populated with those from the config.xml lists which are found on your machine.

Maybe try installing and selecting these decoders:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPA_Decoder.htm

Downloaded and put the .ax files in gbpvr directory, but I don't see the decoders on the playback pull down menu in setup. I do have search results for the whole computer with all .ax files - is there a list of the decoders and muxes by name somewhere? Is there a Windows directory GB looks at where I could make sure they're placed?

There is instructions on those patches for how to install them (basically run "regsvr32 C:\path\to\decoderfilename.ax").

Probably best not to put them in the GB-PVR directory either. Create some other directory elsewhere.
