hmm I was chatting with "aiwa" last night. I mentioned about the sound issue, and he has taken some samples from me to give to the manufacturer.

Yes, I am getting pretty discouraged by there being absolutely no sign of HE-AAC audio support coming for the A100. We are slowly being channeled into digital delivery but my recordings are all now on analogue. No point in recording digital if I can't watch from the lounge.
I have a 'surplus' comp here running win 7 which has HDMI out so perhaps I will experiment with that and locate it behind the TV. There is so much junk behind the TV cabinet another bit won't hurt! Besides, SWMBO is away for a few days so she mightn't even notice! Yea, right. Edit:-Damn, my HVR2200 doesn't have an IR input. Guess that scotches my trial.

There isnt really much to say about it at this stage. It'll probably be at least a couple of months before we see a GB-PVR client running on the MVP-HD.

This is just my 2c worth from a long time MVP user that has gone through the "should I get an NMT or wait for the HD-MVP" route who decided to give the NMT a try & is so SO glad he did. I know there are lots of old messages about things not working with the NMT but they were with the old integration into GB-PVR & I would just think of them as going through the "beta" stage. With the release of the PCH2 integration those messages are ancient history & should be ignored. I have been totally blown away with how well GB-PVR integrates with & works on the NMT. I would say as long as you are not wanting to play recordings that have HE-AAC-LC audio as it is not supported by the NMT at the moment (who knows Syabas may fix this in the future) from what I can gather this affects Brazil, Israel, NZ DVB-T (not DVB-S), Norway, Portugal and Taiwan (and some more to come in the near future) buy a NMT & give it a go, I don't think you will be disappointed. Secondly I just don't see the HD-MVP being $99 or anywhere near that price & I have great difficulty seeing what it is going to be able to do better than the NMT does now.

And by NMT you mean refurbed A100?

NMT=Network Media Tank a group of devices that use the common Syabas platform, in my case I have an EGreat M34a but the PHC A100 does the same job & works the same with GB-PVR

Thanks. So loading mvpmcx2 on the EGreat is the same as on the A-100?
Also, I see EGreat has a standard versus extended remote. Do you know which is better? I see you use the Hauppage remote. What was necessary to make that possible? Thanks Paul

Yes loading is exactly the same, I just followed the dummies guide to install.
The standard M34a remote is missing a number of the buttons that are on the normal NMT remotes, for GB-PVR use the lack of the coloured buttons is the main one, but having said that Martin released a new version of mvpmcx2 the other day that partly overcame this by mapping the blue button to the info button. EGreat didn't have to option of buying an extended remote when I bought mine so I don't know if I would have payed out the extra $12 or not. To get the Hauppauge remotes working (I have both the MVP remote(s) & the MCE style remote that came with my HVR-3000 & they both work incredibly well with mvpmcx2) have a look at this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=42269 it is very easy to setup once you have the NMT installed & working. |
