HDMI (with copy protection) or Component. The HD-PVR will allow you to capture the component signal.

A previous post in this thread by Sub indicated that the component YPbPr video is SD only, or did that apply only to the hardware of a previous post?

I wasnt refering to the HD-PVR, which is the only device we've seen to date that will capture HD component video. It is capable of capturing 1080i/720p/480p/480i over component video.
Quote:Also, if the HD-PVR outputs component video at HD resolutions, which HD capture card would you install in your PC to capture the component output of the HD-PVR?
The HD-PVR capture HD video from a set top box, and sends it to the PC over the USB port, and GB-PVR saves it to a .ts file.

The HD-PVR takes the component output from your STB as input. It's the capture device, not the output device. It connects to your PC via USB. GB-PVR supports it quite well.

(Looks like sub beat me to it... :-) )

This might interest some of you, who want to use hdmi http://www.geektonic.com/2009/08/keeping...-open.html What some vendor's might do is make the STB IR blaster incompatible.
