I guess we are back to my original problem then. I can not get the new versions to work at all. All Im getting is a blank screen with no way to debug the problem. Now Im working with the latest version from sub 1.4.7 together with your mvpmcx2 update from 08-22.

THis is what Im getting trying to start via telnet

Code:
BusyBox v1.5.0 (2008-07-10 18:07:27 MYT) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/ # /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2 &
/ #
/ # /bin/sh: /etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2: Permission denied

Everything works fine when changing back to the 06-19 version of the mvpmcx2 file.

Did you use NMTInstall to install mvpmcx2 into that folder? It looks like a permission problem. Also what is the file size shown with

ls -lt /etc/mvpmc

Martin, being one of the pioneirs using GBPVR on my PCH, my first install was manual. However, since then I have also used the new NMTInstall procedure. My working 06-04 version was installed using NMTInstall. Do I need to install every new updated using the NMTInstall? Below you see my listing from the mvpmc share.

Code:
BusyBox v1.5.0 (2008-07-10 18:07:27 MYT) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

/ # ls -lt /etc/mvpmc
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root          412 Aug 31 17:16 startmeup
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root      1424768 Aug 22 06:39 mvpmcx2
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root          615 Jul  4 06:55 gbpvr.cgi
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root      1420560 Jun  4 03:29 mvpmcx2.old
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root         1370 Apr  3 23:07 index.htm
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root          664 Nov 14  2008 usb_a.cgi
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root          782 Nov 13  2008 browser.cgi
-rwxrwSrwt    1 root     root        17048 Feb  1  2008 utelnetd

You see my 2 versions of the mpvmcx2 file. The only thing I need to do to make it work again is to use the other (not active) version of mvpmcx2.

Thanks,

The only reason I asked is NMTInstall extracts the archive in a share friendly manner, ie. it is extracted directly into the folder. If you extracted the file in another folder and drag and drop it into this folder it will not have the appropriate share permissions. Instead you need to copy it into the folder.

Ok, i might have draged and dropped it directy from the ziparchive. Will try to extract it directly into the mvpmc share and/or use the NMT install.

Ill report back later tonight.

Martin, that did the trick. Saved the .7z file in the mvpmc directory and extracted it there and everything workes as expected.

Many thanks for all your help.

Im surprised noone else has had this problem???

Great. If figure a lot of people have seen this problem, and it is one of those mysterious things that seem to fix itself. The reason I wrote NMTInstall was to avoid the mysteries, and that is why I hope everyone eventually uses it.

Martin,

I am sure the NMTInstall procedure is well appreciated by all users of GBPVR on their PCHs. I guess I assumed that only updating the mvpmcx2 binary could be done by only replacing the file. Maybe you want to clarify how these updates should be made to avoide this problem in the future.

Thanks,

Of course updates to mvpmcx2 alone can be done by replacing the file if it is done properly and that is why I post the link to the archive. However I specifically wrote NMTInstall so I wouldn't have to write documentation or answer support questions, so I highly recommend it even for "simple" things, but I have no absolutely no problem if you want to update the wiki to include notes on how to run 7zip and manage files on a file share.

Martin, I hope you did not read my last post as any type of criticism, it was definitely NOT meant to be that. I will pm blader_se to get access to update the wiki, making clarification on how to update the mvpmcx2 binary to avoid future support questions.

Also this thread will be around now, i guess many are searching the forums as a compliment to the wiki.

Many thanks again for your work on integrating the PCH with GBPVR. Knowing this was possible was the sole reason for getting PCHs in the first place.

Off-topic, are there any plans to not reset the sound when changing channel? I remember reading somewhere that you were awaiting a change from Sub in order to avoid this.
