Why is it that GraphEdit cannot view the DirectShow graph that GBPVR is using? When I launch any other media player (WMP, Media Player Classic, Zoom Player) I can open GraphEdit and "connect to remote graph" and see exactly what codecs are being used by that stream. How come GBPVR is invisible? It's not a huge deal, but I'm just the investigative type and wondered why it's immune to graphedit.

Also, why do you only allow specific playback codecs to be selected in the config app? There are a number of codecs installed on my system that are not listed (Nero, DScaler) and I didn't realize why that was until I found the "allowed" list in one of the config files in the GBPVR directory... I prefer to use DScaler5 as my decoder, so if I can set it as my system default from OUTSIDE the config program, how come you won't let me choose it manually from INSIDE the config program?

Not trying to second guess your techniques, I was just curious as to why this was done...

Thanks! Things are working great!

For a graph to be connected to from GraphEdit, the application (GB-PVR) has to explicitly add the graph to Running Object Table. Very few application add their graph to the ROT. None of SageTV, BeyondTV, WinTV etc do.

This is not because I dont want people spying. In fact, I have code in the application to do this on my development machines, but I purposefully dont do it in the release versions because it can cause the application to lock up under lots of situation. For example, with the GB-PVR added to the ROT, you will only be able use 'Live TV' once if you are using the Overlay renderer. This is because the using ROT can lead to object reference counting problems.

Some filters (ffdshow) can be configured to add the graph to ROT if you absolutely must see the graph. Its not advised that you leave this enabled though - it will lead to problems.

I have only added those decoder which I know works with GB-PVR. You're free to either add to the list, or rely on the 'System default' setting if you want to use a different decoder.

I knew you'd explain it well.
Thanks for the information, everything above makes sense, I appreciate it.
