I have attempted to configure my AverMedia Volar max USB digital tuner (ATSC) hardware by using the configuration utility selecting the capture source tab. I selected the recording source by clicking on the “Only show devices detected in this machine” option. The config utility supposedly picked up my digital USB tuner.

I then used MC2XML Grabber to download and create an xmltv file gathered directly from Microsoft’s MCE EPG server for my EPG source.
I pointed to the xmltv file via the xmltv plugin setting then updated my EPG. A this point I selected the “map digital channels to the EPG channels” option.

The issue: Although it seems the scan picked up all my 68 local digital channels (bottom right hand side window displayed them)
Nothing came up in the tuning request column (this tuning column never came up) for me to “fine” select the channels as the Wiki guide suggested
In addition when I save and exit the config utility and re-enter the GBPVR program selecting TV guide does nothing.

Can anybody tell me what I need to do at this point? I have followed the Wiki guide completely step by step up to this point to be able to finally get to my TV guide so I can start recording.

Note:I have already attemped to empty out my EPG and starting over,
re-registering my filters with the required bat file, removing the capture source and starting over from scratch etx (all the usual Wiki recommendations) with still the same problem.

Go back into config and back into “map digital channels." If your first scan was successful, then it should be ready for you to map. If it was not successful (and did not save the results of the scan) it will try to scan again.

If it scans again, or if it does not allow you to map the results of the scan, then scan again and post your logs.

Yes. Last night I had done this exact thing you are recommending. I did not have to re-scan, all my local channels were still there but again the issue was/is that the tuning request columns do not materialize.

I have noticed there are many log files in my GBPVR log directory so which logs should I gather? Once you tell me this I will gather the right logs to send to you when I get back home from work later on today.

Thanks for your help.

The usual recommendation is to just zip up the entire logs directory. Anything that has config in the name may be useful. Here are sub's instructions:

Zip and attach your logs
The logs are found in c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\logs directory (unless you installed to another place).
Unless I ask for a specific log, then I mean all the logs. (typing individual log file names is my pet peeve)
You need winzip or another zip program (windows explorer in XP right click and send to Compressed Folder") to zip up all the files that end with .log in that directory.
Then in your post you hit "Go advanced" in the forum, then you can attach files with the button "manage attachments".

Look carefully in config to make sure you haven't overlooked the mapping column. It's in the mapping screen, not the screen you see before you map. I don't recall seeing this particular error before, but I recall being confused between the columns you see on the screen before mapping, versus the mapping screen itself.

Does your mapping screen look like the the bottom screen shot here? http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=13

I don't know the cause of this or the solution, but wanted to see if that's what you are seeing.

edit: martint123 who posted that screenshot later said he got the mapping column back by setting the EPG to None temporarily. so if that's the problem you are having, try that.

If it is, perhaps he should try setting his EPG source to "none."
edit: I see we crossed between your post, my post and your edit Smile

Did what you guys wanted (EPG to none) exited the config then came back in and set the EPG source back to XMLTV plugin, clicked on settings to bring in the XMLTV.xml then updated the EPG. Again no updates on the tuner columns in either page. See attached word doc with my scanned in screen picture (I inserted in the log zip file).

You have to manually map your channels. Click the "Mapping" field beside any channel and it will become a dropdown for you to select. See the ATSC and QAM guide posted at http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43361
