First off, let me say that GBPVR is a great piece of software, and Sub has helped me out a couple of times, and his response times are lightning. I've never seen a developer like Sub, a community like this one, or software like GBPVR. If only all software was this well written and supported!

OK, my mandatory (but sincerely heartfelt) fanboi statement done, on to business. Secondly, I believe this may somehow be a driver issue, because I have broken the first cardinal rule of computer maintenance -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I updated my Hauppauge drivers that were working so well, because a piece of freeware called Software Informer said there was an update, and because I'm always looking for the best out of my PVR, like a fool, I updated, and have regretted it since. However, it seems nothing I can do, including rolling back the old drivers, seems to have gotten be back to where I was before this hassle.

Running Windows XP Home SP3 on a Pentuim 4 3.2 GHz box, with 2GB ram. I've updated to the latest 1.4.7, and after some difficulty with the new vcredist and a number of attempted installations (with roll-backs) it looked like it did update correctly, and I had been running it for a couple of weeks with good success. Then came my idiot update, and now what I am seeing happening is this:

- PVRX2 (was) loading in my second monitor screen fine, and I could access the menus (using Community Skin, looks good!) just fine, but when I would go to start playing a video, I would get a blank screen and just audio for a few seconds, then my second screen would flash, and act as though the monitor/adapter had disconnected from my computer (with effort I could get it to respond again, after shutting PVRX2 down).

- Now, PVRX2 is loading, but not showing on any monitor, so I have to force it down with Task Manager. I notice two PVRX2's in the list, and when I shut both of them down, one of them automatically re-spawns!?! This is getting weirder and weirder.

I have attached my recent (today) logs to this message - I am hoping that my rambling isn't confusing things.

Thanking you so much in advance,

Daniel Bragg

I've noticed something else that is probably key to this problem.

I can watch video on the second monitor, so long as it's "windowed", but as soon as I go "full screen", all heck breaks loose. This happens regardless of the application (VLC or online shows through IE). I know this isn't a GB PVR issue at all now, but if someone has encountered similar problems and can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it greatly.

I don't use multiple monitors, but I'm fairly sure I read on here that hardware acceleration doesn't work on a second monitor - if that has inadvertently been turned on??

Have you tried different render settings? Perhaps re-install WMP11?

By the way, the second PVRX2 in your task manager sounds to me like you have number of MVP servers to autostart > 1 in the config app.
(it uses one PVRX2.exe for each MVP server I think)

If you kill it, it automatically restarts.
Make that 0, and it should be OK (unless you are using an MVP / PCH client, then don't worry)

martint123 - Thanks for the tip - I disabled all hardware acceleration for the TV, and other apps now can display in full screen. Doesn't resolve my GBPVR problems fully, but it's a step in the right direction!
Reddwarf - I'll try reinstalling WMP11, just because I don't think it can hurt to try :-D
JonnyCam - I did have it set to automatically start 1 server. I have set that to 0, and I'll see how that goes.

Thanks, guys, for the hope and help. I'll report back when I finally figure out what my holdup is... The wife is missing her easy-access to her shows (thankfully, it's still recording fine!)

I seem to remember that WMP11 installs the VMR9 render, and, hopefully, if it is broken a reinstall will fix it. In any case it won't hurt. Are you using any propiarity cidecs, like those that comes with PowerCinema and so?

I don't believe so, but some time ago I did download and install the K-Lite Mega Codec pack. In addition to reinstalling WMP, I believe I'll download and install the latest one of those as well, just to cover all my bases.

Who knows - when I get done reinstalling everything, I may have a better system (or, it may be lower than molasses in January Sad )

Hmmm, OK, will go check that value...

...not seeing anything on the Playback tab of the Config to the right of the PVRX2 Video Renderer drop-box, will click the little [...] buttons to the right of the MPEG-s Video decoder (currently set to ffdshow Video Decoder), and...

HOLY CATS, Batman! There's a thousand settings in there!

(waits until the heart slows a little, before taking on the daunting task of looking for one wee little checkbox)

Nope, still don't see a checkbox in there regarding the hardware accel (though I could have swore there was a box in there regarding the status of my soul, but I may have been imagining.)

Couldja point me in the right direction? Thanks.
