I've used GB-PVR for a couple of years but just upgraded hardware. Before, I used a PVR-150/MediaMVP setup. I had few problems but some limitations, which is the reason for the upgrade. Now I'm using a Hauppauge HVR-1600 (PCI) for capture and an Asus (ATI Radeon) AH 3450 (AGP) for TV out.
The cable box (Scientific Atlanta 3250HD from Comcast) is connected to the HVR-1600 by coax (and also to the receiver by component cable for watching TV directly from the cable box.) The AH3450 is connected to the receiver by HDMI cable.
The GB-PVR box has an AMD 3000+ XP with 1GB of memory and a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP3 plus all Windows updates. GB-PVR version is 1.4.7. The latest WinTV7 was installed for the most current drivers for the card and for the IR blaster. ATI CCC 9.9 is installed with the AGP hotfix. I've also installed and unlocked Hobring's SAF codec pack but in the GB-VPR config, all audio and video codecs have been reset to system default.
On the capture sources tab, the Recording Source is set to "Analog Recording Plugin". I've tried others, but this is the only setting that gives me the option to set the Source to "Fixed Channel, External Tuner" (Tuning is set to "Cable" and Constant Channel to "3".) Since I'm no longer using the MediaMVP, I hope to use the HVR-1600's IR blaster to change the channel on the cable box.
Here's the problems I can't figure out:
1. Neither Live TV nor TV Guide work. When either is selected by either the keyboard or mouse, nothing happens. Live TV works in WinTV (set to channel 3.) I've tried every Video Renderer option. My EPG source is Schedules Direct. As best I can tell everything there is set up correctly. (When I manually update the listing, all the right boxes pop up for the right amount of time and I don't get any error messages.) All other options (Video Library, Setting, System, Exit, etc.) respond when selected as expected.
2. Screen changes from pressing a key on the keyboard or double clicking with the mouse sometimes (~10% of the time) take a long time (30+ seconds) for the screen to respond. I have noticed that if I move the mouse the screen will respond immediately. If this won't happen when (if) I use the remote with the IR blaster, this is less of a concern.
3. Audio studders. I tried to play an AVI file from the video library with heavy studdering for 3+ minutes before I turned it off. I opened the file in Windows Media Player 11 and the sound was fine.
4. Not exactly GB-PVR related, but I cannot get Hauppauge's IR blaster to work with my cable box. There is not an option for the Scientific Atlanta 3250HD. There is one for the 3250 but it does not work. If anyone knows which code to use, please post. If all else fails, I'll just the use the learn function.
I've have searched extensively in this forum and elsewhere for solutions but come up empty. If you can help with any of these problems or point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful.
Thank you.
