I think AVG 9 causes GBPVR to lose focus, therefore the remote stops working.
I have uninstalled AVG 9 and so far so good.
Anyone else having this sort of problem lately?

Used to get this with CoreAVC which was known to steal focus, even when the taskbar icon was disabled. Maybe you can disable the AVG taskbar icon? If you use the Hauppage remote and Iremote.ini, the i-menu button cycles between all active programs, so all I ever needed to do was press it a couple of times to give focuc back to GBPVR.

Look on the wiki and try the 'start pvrx2' utility. It will keep pvrx2 running and in focus. If you put it in the start folder it will start pvrx2 when you boot. You can also pause it to keep it out of your way if you need the pc for something else. I have not seen an issue with 9.0 but run start pvrx2 so I don't think I would even if it had the problem.

I second the "Start PVRX2" suggestion. I had this exact problem, which wasn't a huge deal for me since I had a button on the remote to refocus gbpvr, but the WAF was suffering greatly... No problems at all since I started using Start PVRX2!

For those using a Hauppauge remote, the Irremote.ini file should have the following entry in the default section that lets you get the focus back using the menu key.
Code:
[Default]
MENU={switch(*task*)}{shift}{tab}

I have the 'green' button set on my MCE remote, but it was just a PITA to regain focus (esp when you go to skip some adverts, check guide etc).
Gone back to AVG 8.5 and everything perfect again. Big Grin

Except 8.5 will quit working before the end of the year I think....

I have had the same problem with AVG free 9. I disabled the linkscanner and everything seems to working. AVG (http://free.avg.com/faq.num-1334#faq_1334) states to allow some files to the firewalls for browsers locking up, if they aren't already there. I found a couple that weren't in my firewall. I haven't had any problems with GBPVR since I added the files to my firewall and re-enabled the link scanner, but it has only been about an hour. If the problem comes back again, I will disable the linkscanner until I find a permanent fix.

latest AVG patch is meant to have addressed this 'focus' problem.
Seems to be ok now.
Tried the "Start PVRX2" but this is hopeless for myself as I use Foobar, TMT and PDVD via the plug-ins, as you can guess the control returns to GBPVR after I open these programs - meaning I then lose control of them Rolleyes
Everything seems in order now Wink

You can also set gbpvr to always stay on top.

pvrx2.exe -topmost
