GBPVR version 1.4.7 Won't Install

I tried to install version 1.4.7 on a Windows 7 x64 PC. I had version 1.4.7 installed previiously but it was acting funny. I had deleted the installation of GBPVR and its directory.

When I tried to install it, it goes through most of the process and then rolls back files and has an error screen that says simply "Installation Ended Prematurely Because of an Error" and I can't find any error logs with any detail about what the error was.

For better or worse before I tried to install GBPVR I ran VCREDIST_x86. Did this mess me up?

I went back to restore points before I ran VCREDIST_x86 and still get the same result.

Is there somewhere that the INSTALL program indicates what error it encountered when trying to install GBPVR?

I'm at a complete loss on how to get GBPVR running.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I think the the command (run as admin) that people have needed to finish a bad uninstall is

sc delete "gb-pvr recording service"

It took me a while to get around that my Admin account did not have Administrative privileges and I couldn't change privileges on any accounts because all of the defined ones I could see were Standard accounts. After some searching on the web to find about the hidden Administrative account in Windows 7 and how to run a cmd box at elevated privileges the delete command you suggested ran successfully.

I had earlier gone into REGEDIT figuring I would just delete any registry entries but I must have missed something.

Should this be something that sub should ad to the Install program? or at least have some error logging?

I am used to having any changes be Two Steps Forward and One Step Back and can even live with One Step Forward and Two Steps Back.... but the last day has been more like One Step Forward and Ten Steps Back.

You could use Start->Run type the command and Ctrl+Shift Enter instead of Enter

As for sub doing anything, a proper uninstall effectively does this.

This worked for me also when I just had deleted GBPVR library since uninstall was lost.
