Building a replacement for my trusty W2K GBPVR with new components. Tuner 1 on Nova TD 500 maps fine. Tuner 2 scans first channel (41) and finds 7 TV channels and thereafter reports zero signal strength for the other 5 channels it scans. Copied the contents of tuner 1 cache into tuner 2 cache but it still won't show anything in preview other than the first 7. Any other ideas beyond a fualty card?

Does that card have one or two antenna connections?

It could well be a card problem - I had a Nova-T 500 (single antenna input) where one tuner was working and the other not.

Try downloading and running ScanChannelsBDA from here - it will give you more detail about the signal strengths on each tuner.

Isn't there a tool from Hauppauge for the TD that turns the diversity on and off??

I seem to have read that there is also a tool for turning an undocumented preamp on and off????

Thanks ACTCMS, That shows what I'm seeing in GVPVR.....6 muxes detected by tuner 1 but only one by tuner 2 and that with low signal strength. Time to talk to Ebuyer!

I had bought my failing card from the local PC World store. As it was still under warranty, I took it back along with a printout of the ScanChannelsBDA logs... I got a no-quibble replacement and they didn't even look at the logs.

Ebuyer have a good reputation. We'll see. I bought it last Jan but only just got around to use it in anger. Thanks again

I get most of my stuff from Ebuyer, but I've never needed to send anything back yet. They do have a good reputation though.
