Ripped two of my daughter's "Your Baby Can Read" DVDs and they won't play. I originally ripped them with DVDFab and later tried DVDDecrypter. PowerDVD will play them outside of GBPVR. I'm using Dscaler and AC3Filter, but I've tried other codecs with the same result. Other ripped DVDs play fine. I've attached the logs.

Thanks,

Phil/TW

My tip is using Any DVD for "on the fly" DVD decrypting/riping.
No problems playing DVD using WinXP+VMR9, PDVD9 MPEG-2 + AC3 + MS DVD navigator (SAF). Even navigation + DXVA working great (XP only).

Tried anydvd, didn't make a difference, and I'm having difficulty with dvds that worked before, so I don't think it's the rip that's the problem.

I will try uninstalling and reinstalling PowerDVD and see if that helps, and provide logs as I did above.

Just wondering, does the following excerpt from my log above provide any clues, especially the "display still in use part"?:

No, I'm afraid not.

That message just means it's telling Window's that monitor is still in use, and to not to let the monitor go into standby.

I can only recommend to rip your DVDs without any menustructure (mainmovie only). GB-PVR seems to have a lot of trouble with different DVD Menus.
I had the same troubles with my original DVDs. Now they're "menufree" there's no problem left with the playback.

PS: Even the Cyberlink DVD Navigator is NOT the solution for all, within 3rd Party Applications. Within PowerDVD it work's like a charme, but outside... not really nice.

I installed the unlocked SAF package after uninstalling PowerDVD 8, dscaler, ffdshow, ac3, and all other codecs I could locate. Avi's, mkvs, and other files play just fine after installation, but I'm still getting the behavior where some dvds will just go to black, others will start with proper menu and music and have the Resume/Restart overlay, and when I choose either restart or resume it freezes.

This is a Vista installation and I understand now that Vista and DVDs sometimes don't mix well, but this was working on this installation before so something changed to break it.

Can someone recommend a troubleshooting process or logs to look at to figure out what's going on?

Thanks,

Phil/TW

Make sure you configure FFDShow audio/video decoder for DVD playback + MS DVD navigator - do not use PDVD MPEG-2 decoder, you will not get navigation working on Vista/Win7 + DXVA decoder.

I can confirm i have similar DVD resume issues too, GB-PVR ask to resume, and my remote stops working like GB-PVR lost focus.

I get the remote stopping working when the resume/restart option comes up. It starts to work again just as I've got annoyed enough to throw the remote at the telly Smile I've never had DVDs I cant play though using one of the PDVD decoders (I'll have to check which and which navigater). However I've had one disk that AnyDVD couldn't decode. It sat there forever telling me my disk would be ready in a minute but it never was... Oddly it's only been the one and it wasn't even a resent film. It was an ancient Disney annimation...
