I have built a new Computer for HDTV recording and viewing and I am having problems getting the video smooth and the sound syncronized.

The best video is when I use the overlay renderer but the sound starts to lag the video after a few minutes. I am using the AC3Filter decoder. I have poked around with all of the various decoders availble on my system but none improve the problem.

I am wondering if there are digital decoders that I need to download and try. I thought that I had enough hardware Horsepower to manage HD.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried playing with the SAF pack by Hoborg?

Cheers

MPC-HC has been treating me good along side AC3 Filter for AC3 Audio Rendering. MPC-HC even does better than Elecard which I found surprising.

Thanks for the links, they helped. I managed to install the SAF pack. While installing SAF I received two errors. First MpgMUC.ax was not found. and second that 8.0.2606a needed to be uninstalled. I have no idea what either of those are but its installed and I can get synced video and audio.

SAF reommended using VMR9 Fullscreen for the renderer. While this setting gives the very sharpest picture it is jerky. I could not seem to find a way to smooth it out. I am using the overlay manager now and it works pretty well unless there is lots of movement on the screen.

I really do not understand many of the settings and have just been poking around. Are there any particular settings I should focus on to smooth the video?

To be honest I've never actually had a need for the SAF pack yet but keep meaning to try it! I only mentioned it as I've read great things about it Wink

Prob best to post on SAF thread about this where the experts are!

Cheers

I goofed up my codecs lately playing with EVR and XP SP3 and this guide really helped me out http://nunnally.ahmygoddess.net/watching...ture-cuda/

If you dont have Purevideo and CoreAVC and want to use DXVA you could look at the other guide referenced http://nunnally.ahmygoddess.net/watching...sing-dxva/

sub, I'm also having an issue with audio/video sync. When bitstreaming AC3 audio, I lose sync after a few minutes. The sync issue gets worse over time. This happens regardless of the decoder used and the only way I can keep sync is by setting the audio clock on the renderer. I tried the <ForceAudioReferenceClock> setting but it had no effect, the clock always gets set to the TS reader filter. Is there any way to change this?

1) you need to "unlock" SAF
2) 8.0.2606a - that is PowerDVD 8 - just uninstall it. Really messy piece of codecs, will leave tons of mess in registry Sad

VMR9 is needed to make DXVA working under WinXP. But becouse your onboard GPU is too old and didnt support DXVA, you can use EVR too - still VMR9 FSA is recomended by me.
