Has anyone successfully got dual tuner working with the Hauppauge HVR-2200 in GB-PVR?

The Hauppauge advertising says it’s dual tuner. From reading elsewhere in the forum I know it’s got both dual analogue and DVB-T tuners but you can only use two at any one time. My preference would be to have two DVB-T tuners working, it would be great to be able to view a different channel and record at the same time. One DVB-T tuner is working well at present. Big Grin

I’ve read the GB-PVR manual, which lead me to the trouble shooter for dual tuner cards. The trouble shooter recommended I install the “DeviceTypeCheck” utility. Unfortunately the utility didn’t detect the HVR-2200 card. Sad

Any suggestions?

Yes it was relatively straightforward - adding two digital capture sources for the one card. Initially I also added two analogue capture sources for the card as well, but now that I no longer need to record analogue broadcasts I've removed the analogue capture sources.

rrrrrrrr…. dual tuner is still not working.

Thanks for letting me know DeeV8, it must be possible.

I must be doing something dumb.

Can you check this process? Does it sound fine to you?

Start off with only one source defined, my existing working tuner.

- Add a new source and call it something different “Haupp 2200 2nd” .
- In recording source. Set the digital recording plugin.
- Go into settings.
- Check the box, “only cards in this computer”, then only “Hauppauge HVR-2200” appears.
- Set the area to Australia, Melbourne, OK.
- In EPG source, paste in the path to the EPG XML file (the same path as used by the first tuner), OK.
- Click the “update EPG” button. A warning message pops up saying I need to save the source – click “yes”, it appears to save.
- Click “update EPG” button again, it says it’s doing it and it will take a few minuets.
- Click the “map digital channels to EPG”, the scan works, I make a few minor changes, mainly to get rid of duplicate broadcasts. OK, OK.

Now to test.
Open PVRX2, start recording a show.
Go to live TV, PVRX2 gives the warning that there are no tuners available, I can only watch the program that is currently recording.

Did you set the device numbers correctly? One capture source should be set to device #1, the other should be set to device #2.

Thanks for the reply Sub.

I didn't have the decive number set correctly. I removed the 2nd source and went through setting up the 2nd tuner again, this time making sure the 2nd tuner was set as device 1 - same problem - no other tuners available whilst recording.

Zip and post your logs after reproducing the issue.

Yep, what he said - try scheduling two recordings in the tv guide, then post the pvrx2.log and I'll take a look.

Do you use a real EPG, or have you manually created the channels (and epg set to 'none')?

That was an interesting exercise, doing 2 recordings at once. It worked!

See PVRX2 log A, in the zip file is the log after trying 2 recordings at once.

So…. I again, tried recording and viewing at the same time, that doesn’t work, see the screen capture JPG file showing the problem. Also, the PVRX2 log B after trying this.

That’s really odd- I can record 2 shows at once, but I can’t record one show and view another at the same time.

EPG source is set to “XMLTV Plugin”.
