I am using the Hauppauge HVR-2250 with the newest drivers but cant seem to get the video to show up in PVRX2. Looking at the pvrx2.exe-native.log i get this snipnet that seems important, but I cant seem to relate other posts to exactly my issue:
2009-12-21 14:14:17.906 VERBOSE About try all encoders until we find one that works...
2009-12-21 14:14:17.906 VERBOSE Hauppauge WinTV-7164 MPEG2 PS Encoder/Mux
2009-12-21 14:14:17.953 VERBOSE using instance: 1
2009-12-21 14:14:18.046 VERBOSE ConnectPins failed: hr = 80040217
2009-12-21 14:14:18.046 VERBOSE VFW_E_CANNOT_CONNECT

Also, I am using this in Windows 2003 32bit so that might be adding to the complexity as well. I have attached some logs...anyone have any ideas???

What audio/video decoders do you have selected on the playback tab? Best to stay away from 'system default' if you're having problems.

I installed the k-lite codec pack but had system default selected. I then tried selecting ffdshow but no change. I installed another codec pack and now i get intervideo option for video as well. I can now get an all blue screen (progress!?) instead of the black. I am basically only changing the MPEG2 playback options...should I be messing with others as well?
Thanks!

You can get blue video from the 2200 if you've selected the wrong input (ie, svideo vs composite vs tuner etc).

I have narrowed it down to the mpeg2 decoder....so far anything to do with ffdshow makes the computer blue screen. I have gotten several other mpeg2 decoders to show part video (looks like the encrypted channels that show bits and pieces of the frame). I can play mpeg2 files using other players like vlc and I have tried with other computers and know it isnt the cable feed that is messed up.
Do you have any typical mpeg2 decoders that you like to use (and even more helpful would be some proven to work in win2k3!)

That one also makes the computer blue screen for some reason...I can get video to show using the Elecard Mpeg2 decoder, but it looks like I'm watching a choppy slide show. I saw another user claiming you have to set the hardware acceleration to full on Server 2003, but mine is already at full now. Does this have something to do with DirectX possibly?

Do you mean as in "blue screen of death", ie computer reboot, hang etc? or just blue video and still able to use PC.

If is a blue screen of death, its most like one of the device drivers causing it. Probably the videocard drivers, or maybe the capture device drivers.

Sorry, I dont really know anything about running on Server 2003. On desktop operating systems I've never had to fiddle with the directx settings.

Well, it finally works. Turned out to have nothing to do with the drivers or MPEG2 decoders...it was the Ram! I now have everything running using the standard k-lite codec pack.
I read another post saying they took all out but 2gb and it worked for them. That worked for me as well. All of a sudden the video works on all 5 tuners. Because I was installing on a server running win2k3, I had 16gb of ram. Thanks for the help as always Sub, Merry Christmas!
