I just bought a ATI 650 USB tuner card. I can watch and use it on the default ATI software. When i tried to use it with GBPVR, I cant get anything to show up. The config did detect my card but when it tried to scan for EPG options, nothing comes up. The most disappointing it i cannt get the LIVE TV to even show up. Basically when i click on "live TV" nothing shows up, no black screen, no flicker, no nothing.

Can you advise me in how to get the live tv to show? my connection is Cable from Shaw. I am not sure if that is digital or analog, but we have a digital shaw cable box in the living room. This tuner is connected to my desktop in the bedroom straight from the wall via cable.

thanks.

If you havent been able to scan for and setup channels, then thats the behaviour you'll see when you click 'live tv'. Try doing the scan ('map digital channels to epg channels' button), then post the config.exe.log and config.exe-native.log and I'll see if anything stands out.

That said, I thought I read that digital cable was all encrypted in Canada, so you probably wont find any digital channels you can use.

I have tried to use the "map digital channels to EPG Channels" button and it scanned for a good 3 mins at least but 0 channels came up. In my create capture source screen i have 4 options under EPG source tap: schedule direct(canada/us only), XMLTV plugin, DVB EPG broadcast. I was only able to scan with the DVB EPG broadcast.

Anyways I am not sure how to post the config.exe.log or config.exe-native.log files and finally when i use the GB-PVR Tuning Assistant program, I was able to scan the channels. I dont know what this means.

please advise again thanks!

If you zip and attach those log files, I'll take a look. As I mentioned though, you're unlikely to have any unencrypted digital cable channels in Canada. Zip the files, click the 'go advanced' reply button below, then use the paper clip icon to attach your zip file.

While selecting the DVB-EPG option would allow you proceed with the scan without supplying a EPG, it wont give any listings in North America since the DVB EPG is not broadcast there. Its more of a European thing.

The tuning assistant scans analog channels, not the digital channels it'll look for with the 'map digital channels to epg channels' button.

You most likely need to delete the capture source you've already created, then create a new one using the Analog Recording Plugin instead of the default Digital Recording Plugin, and use the XMLTV EPG source (with xmltv file from mc2xml or similar).

I could see your scan was failing because you had your device set as a 'Hauppauge Nova-S', which is definitely not your ATI 650 USB device.

There is no scan for analog sources, so nothing really for me to look at in that log.

Do you see your channels listed in your capture source? If so, try the live tv button in the main app, then post the pvrx2.exe.log anc pvrx2.exe-native.log if it doesnt work.

under the edit recording source screen, the channel area is completely blank.
one think i am not clear about is the "recording source " setting which should only effects how the programs handles video recording right? it shouldnt effect how it receive TV signals? Is there another setting to tell the program that i want the tuner to use analog signal?

I attacthed the PVRx2 and Pvrx2 native files. please take a look.

You need to setup a real EPG, otherwise GB-PVR has no idea what channels are available and no way to watch them. This applies to both recording and live tv.

You've set you capture source to use the xmltv EPG source. You need to point it at a valid xmltv file that contains your list of channels. ie, before setting up your capture source in GB-PVR you've used some other software (like mc2xml) to produce your xmltv file. Then in GB-PVR when you click the 'update epg' button it'll read that file to get the list of channels.
