I have GBPVR and a Hauppauge 2250 capture card. The card is connected to two DirecTV STB's. Both are connected to the composite inputs of the 2250. I can watch a single TV channel just fine, but I'm having a hard time setting up the remote.

Do I have to use the Hauppauge remote that came with the card, or should I configure the remote to control the STB's? I kind of assume that the remote needs to control GBPVR, then GBPVR has to be set up to send the right signals to each input source. But I just can't seem to get there.

Can anyone help???

you're right in the second case, the remote controls gbpvr...and the recording service controls the stb's thru a blaster...the hauppauge comes with a single blaster...are the stb's the same type?[have same remote control with them?]

if so, you need another blaster to send signals only to second stb...othrewise it'll change both at once..
even if they are different types i'm not sure the hauppage blaster can be setup for both types at once..[it has an external stb selection util, cannot be done on the fly, which is needed]

i use a mce dongle with hip, and i can setup several stb codes and blast different codes thru one blaster...it also comes with 2 blasters, so it can control 2 of same kind separately...
they can be found pretty cheaply, and for 2 boxes of same type it's probably your best bet..
[not many have two blaster eyes]

or you could use the hauppauge one and another single blaster of another type..
[giving you 2 blaster eyes]

to setup remote, just run the hauppauge software [ir32.exe] and in config.exe dvd tab- set for hauppage 45 button remote.. clcik the button to 'fix' it below that and hit ok...
to setup the blaster you have, in capture source, select 'haupblast.exe' for .exe changer and set {channel} for params and ok out...
then setup blastcfg in haup dir for your stb code type...make sure it works in there..
done..Smile

Oh, wow, thanks pBS. I never would have gone to the DVD tab to configure the remote!

I forgot to mention I do have two blaster eyes: how do I get HaupBlast to send to only one of them (for each capture source)?

Also, on the BlastCfg utility, the CodeSet drop-down defaults to 0, and I only see the value "10001" when I expand it. Is this normal? I've run the Test All button, which took a while to run, but the STB never turned on. I used a flashlight to find the IR sensor on the STB and I'm pretty sure I found it, because when the blaster is taped in place, the STB's remote doesn't work very well.

hmmm,i can't even find my old setup...i don't have a haupp. blaster anymore so can't test the programs..but it should have a list of stb codes to try...my dish box is 028 if that helps..
maybe needs to be setup from cd again...

and so you have 2 blasters? makes sense on a dual analog capable card..Smile
but i haven't seen those so wouldn't know how to address the second one..the old blasters only had one so no software facility for changing them in haupblast.exe unless they've made changes to it..
someone else with a 2250 would have to comment on using both separately..

does the remote have a usb dongle for the blaster eyes? if so it's a mce remote type..Smile
if they plug directly into the 2250 then it's hauppauge type..
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...=haupblast

if it's a mce type dingle, you can blast to both stb's at once using the diff eyes..
you can use my net2hipsend with hip to blast,
or my mceblaster on wiki http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/MCE-nosoft -second section about blasting..

or you can use the built-in mce2005 blasting facility...[in capture source setup, choose mce2005 type and setup using it's facilities]
