NewEgg is already sold out, but they had these for $49 - anyone know anything about them?

I don't know this device but over the past few years many cheap HD players have been released that just upscale SD. I know you are a big xvid fan so this might do the trick if that's all you need but IMHO without network support this isn't really a bargain.

Hi Martin,
I'm not married to xvid . . . I don't mind an mkv ever now and then either!  I was in a hurry earlier so I didn't have much time to look at the specs on this player so I didn't notice the no network support. Yep, you're probably right, not the best deal out there. But then again . . . if you truly don't need the network and NewEgg has them for fifty bucks again, they may be worth a look. I think I'll make a note to keep an eye out from some reviews and pricing on them - my son's inlaws need an nmt and popcornhour hasn't had a refurb sale that I've caught lately. I happened upon more info on this box today http://www.argosy.com.tw/product-detial.php?prod_id=153 What drew me there was another model HV335T and even though the model # is lower, it does seem to play HD formats. You certainly have to pay attention when evaluating of these "no-name" players on the market.

As far as I know any first gen NMT will play mvpmcx2, there might be some used ones on ebay from time to time, but they have held their value fairly well for 2 1/2 year old products I've seen new EGreat EM34a under $150 shipped on ebay, one etailer egreatusa.com has them regularly for $139 plus shipping.
