I'm not sure about the plugin (I've tested a little but not installed in the main server yet) but get_iplayer is still working and I think the same method is used.

I suspect this is because the RTMP stream is still used in the same way to transport video media to the client.

Yeah, it's fine for me, and long may it continue. But if they've locked out some of the other 3rd party access methods, you have to wonder how long it'll be before they find a way to block getiplayer too Edit: in fact, look at this - http://linuxcentre.net/get_iplayer-dropp...pen-source

This is pretty bad news i'm afraid. The BBC have IMHO gone too far if protection of content and are bullying the opensource community. I suspect some if it is because of lobbying from the industry on copyright protection, even if you are a bonified licence payer you should have a right to content on any platform and software tool.
The plugin was based around the get iplayer script and as that has now been withdrawn so unfortunatly the plugin it really cannot continue. I will wait for a few weeks to see if the getiplayer team change there minds, but I suspect it will be the end of the plugin for now. Unless someone knows of an alternative to getiplayer. The plugin will likely continue to work until the bbc change the auth settings so get your downloads now!

There does seem to be some talk of another team picking up the getiplayer script. http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051668.
Lets keep our fingers crossed!

For the standalone get_iplayer I got an update .pl file from the place below and it has resurrected it for me. I haven't a clue how the gbpvr plugin works though.
http://git.infradead.org/get_iplayer.git (I download the snapshot and extracted the get_iplayer.pl file)

I haven't tried for a few days, but the last time I did everything was still working fine for me - the plugin and whatever version of getiplayer it is I have. I'll try to remember to check again tonight...
