I've been having problems on and off with live TV locking up a few seconds after I start it. Also, on playback, there is an occasional stuttering of the audio.

I've worked with the ffdshow codec, and certain combinations solve one problem, or the other, but not both.

Any ideas? Any suggestions of a better codec to use?

I'm running Windows 7 x64, and the card in question is an HVR2250. The system is a Quad Core Intel with 8 GB DDR3 RAM, and dual 10,000 RPM RAID0 hard drives.

Can you post the logs showing it happening?

It happens randomly, but I'll grab the logs the next time it does it. I have forgotten how to find the logs. Would you refresh my memory?

They're in "c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\logs"

OK, I got it to lock up, and grabbed the logs. One file could not be grabbed because is was open. I didn't want to kill GBPVR to grab that one file, because something was recording.

If you need that one log file, I'll grab it tomorrow.

The first thing I'd try is setting the audio renderer back to 'system default'. Other audio renderers can cause lockups.

Thanks, but I've tried each and every combination of audio and video renderers imaginable. Should I try some other codecs? If so, which ones?

I definitely think its related to the decoders or audio renderer you're using.

I'd start by making sure none of the following filters marked with bold are used.
Quote:2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - Speakers (SoundMAX Integrated D
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - ffdshow Audio Decoder
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - ffdshow raw video filter
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - ffdshow Video Decoder

2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - Encoder
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - Capture
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Xbar

What codecs should I be using, other than ffdshow?

Code:
2010-03-15 20:51:30.469 VERBOSE - ffdshow raw video filter

Uncheck "Use ffdshow post processing" in Config.exe. If the raw filter still shows up in the logs, open the ffdshow video decoder configuration, seled "Codecs" and disable the "Raw" codec (listed at the bottom).
