Up until yesterday, my GB-PVR program was working fine. All of a sudden, everytime I try to open the program I get the following message: "PVRX2 has encountered a problem and needs to close." This happens whether trying to access the main program or the Config program.

I tried uninstalling the program, downloaded the new program and installed it. The same error message keeps coming up.

Any suggestions?

Suggest you post your logs (see the sticky at the top of the support sub forum).

Also check the windows applications log may well show something.
Start, run, eventvwr.msc

The later config logs contain this line:

FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: System.Xml.XmlException: Root element is missing.

I don't understand how anything could be missing if I have uninstalled the program and re-installed with the newest version. I have even tried restoring windows to an earlier set point, all to no avail.

sounds like a bad config.xml file. When you reinstalled did you clear the folder out?

I uninstalled the program through the control panel. Then I downloaded and installed the 1.4.7 version along with the new vcredist file.

Which folders should I clear out? Do you mean to open folders within the program files and delete their contents?

Try delting the config.xml from the gbpvr folder, then copy the config-master.xml and rename it to config.xml

And if you ever need to edit config.xml, use notepad - don't ever use wordpad.

I did copy the config-master and saved it as config.xml. Now, at least the recording service seems to be working, but when I open the program it seems to open but there is only a box with the PVRX2 in the top corner and a transparent box. The error message isn't showing up anymore; neither is the main program. What have I done now?
