Thanx - but it didn't work.
I'm now trying to recover an older hopefully good working image of my win xp and see if it works then - that's annoying - I can't see why it isn't working that way. I tried nearly all settings I could find in the Config tool :mad:
By the way, how can I register for the wiki? I have to login, but I can't see where to register for it...

I had Dscaler5 working with LiveTV last night, but today I tried to watch and I get the same error as CarrotMan, what the heck?

I haven't even used the computer today until I tried the TV again... some scheduled recordings went through but that's all... what gives, I wonder?

I'm sorry to only repley that late, been a little busy these days.
Ok, I put an image on my drive and then reinstalled wintv 2000, GBPVR and DScaler 5.
Good news - the "Encoder pass-through" did work.
Bad news - image quality is really bad, I can see every pixel - you can't really compare it to wintv...

I now gave it anonther try without dscaler - and that didn't change anything! But its kind a weird, cause the image is already deinterlaced.
I don't quite get it how that works.

I also tried to set other parameters in config: Live Tv. But that didn't change anything.

Some decoders, like nVidia's, have deinterlacing built in.

but when I use livepreview without enabling encoder pass-through, the nvidia decoder icon does not come up in the system tray, which I thought means it is not being used (and judging by the picture, I'm pretty sure it's not) so how is it deinterlacing anything?

Yeah, I was looking for that, too, and it never appeared. But, it was working. But the icon...I couldn't get it to show.

Finally, I think I used dxman to view all the codecs, and got to the properties there. I was able to change the sound option from PC speaker to stereo receiver, too.

Btw, it wasn't for lack of trying to find out how to open...spent like an hour googling it, w/o any luck. The dxman approach was a random inspiration.

If you use live preview mode without the 'encoder pass-through' option, then no MPEG2 decoder is used.

I've already gone into the decoder settings and changed it to receiver via SPDIF cable, but that doesn't work, still no audio with live preview + encoder passthrough.

I want live preview

I want encoder pass-through for deinterlacing and better quality picture

and i want the audio to work when I do the two above.

Currently, audio does not work when encoder passthrough is used, no matter what audio settings are used in the decoder options. Even when connected to my regular desktop stereo speakers, there is no sound unless encoder passthrough is disabled. THIS is what I'm trying to solve

Help!

I'm having a heck of a time getting deinterlacing to work with ffdshow.

I'd like a live-preview and so I've checked the box in Misc -> Live Preview Mode -> Deinterlacing -> ffdshow raw video filter

So I go into ffdshow video config, I check the deinterlacing to Descale: TomsMoComp. Checked the Process whole image box. Checked the Deinterlacing box.

Then I run LiveTV and the filters don't seem to have done anything. So I go back to ffdshow vid config and add all codec support for raw video.

So now when I run LiveTV, I get a MsgBox: "Failed to load resources from resource file. Please check your Setup" as the program quits. (If I revert to disable codec support for raw video, I get an unfiltered interlaced picture again).

What do I need to do to get this working?

Try setting deinterlacing to none, and configuring ffdshow to do deinterlacing, and to show the OSD, then try live tv again. Does the OSD show up?

ffdshow can be quite insistent on being used, even if GB-PVR doesnt explicitly try to.
