It has to have all the functionality I get with mvpmcx2 (PCH2 mode) otherwise it's useless to me.

I voted "I want it all!" but I have been extremely happy with the combination of Hauppauge products and GBPVR. While I really enjoy automatic commercial skipping of recordings, that is probably the only feature I'd miss in a box with "PCH Mode" type functionality. I'd definitely consider the HD-MVP the next time I'm in the market for a HD client (probably not until we upgrade our other TV, i.e. whenever it breaks).

It was the MediaMVP that brought me to GBPVR in the first place. I've still got two of them and I love the little devices.

But as the cable company transitioned over to HD programming, I assumed Hauppauge would make a product that retains the functionality and ease of use of the original device, and enhance it with HD output (and maybe a better default UI). Much to my disappointment, it sounds like that is not the case.

So I have to say "Sorry Hauppauge, it was great, but I've moved on." My PCH is not as convenient to use as was the original MVP, but it does what I want, so I'll stick with it.

Incidentally, I didn't vote because my opinion falls into the cracks. Yes, I'd like to keep using Hauppage products, but only if they offer a performance advantage over the existing options.

Is the inconvenience simply the few keystrokes required to start mvpmcx2 I could easily have added functionality that exited to a shell but I figured the majority would consider it a plus to go back to the NMT software if they wanted.

Is it possible that this addition to the firmware back in November 2008 could have given an option to reduce the size of the pre-buffer and reduce the delay?

Code:
Release Date : 04 November 2008
Firmware Version : 01-17-081023-15-POP-403-000
- Prebuffering control
- new HTML extension tag supported, "prebuf=xxx" property tag added to
anchor tag to set the size of the pre-buffer

I like the way you have it now, Martin - I wouldn't want my PCH to boot straight into an mvpmcx2 shell, because I also run a movie jukebox and like the ability to easily go back to the NMT software.

Right, a few keystrokes is a few too many for the wife. I've tried to automate startup with my Harmony remote, but I never got it quite right.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. Personally, I use the NMT software, and PlayOn, so together with mvpmcx2 I've got a much more versatile setup than I ever had with the MVP.

And that's my point. If the MediaMVP-HD could improve the overall experience, I'd get one. From what I'm hearing, the only advantage to these devices seems to be the availability, at least here in the states.

No that wouldn't help. In PCH mode I always had access to that parameter. The delay isn't primarily buffering anyway.

Did you try my autostart script off the wiki? It also allows you to go into the NMT interface if you chose to as I use both, GB-PVR mostly so it auto loads if I don't cancel it (good for the WAF) but Mono (is that what it's called?) other times.

Actually mono is the primary media player. Gaya is the limited web browser Syabas use for displaying the UI.
