Hi, I'm using 1.4.7 on XP with a Digital Now Tiny Twin DVB-T. It's been working flawlessly for some time using DVR-MS, however I recently purchased a PCH A110 so have been experimenting with various MPEG2 MUX's as the PCH does not support DVR-MS.

I have 2 main issues:

1. Have never been able to get sound using TS Mux. Following some info in another post I installed the Monogram AAC decoder and configured it under HE-AAC, but to no avail. I have attached logs which may help diagnose the problem.

2. All the MPEG2 MUX's I have tried have had problems which include:
- skipping during playback from 2 seconds to 2 minutes
- playback aborting and returning to the previous screen
I suspect I have a dodgy signal quality, which may be partly explained by the two 4-way splitters in use between the aerial and PVR. One of the splitters is powered so should result in no signal loss, but the other is a cheap non-powered unit. Could this be causing signal disruption which results in the skipping?

Thanks for any help.

when dealing with antenna, gotta have good quality splitters...
the signal strength is weak as it is, and amps seem to make everything worse, not better...[amplifying noise more than signal]
may try hooking the first splitter to pvr...but i'd spring for a high quality splitter, doesn't have to be really expensive, just good build quality...

bypassing splitters with a single straight-thru adapter you can tell if it''s the splitter, or just bad signal..

I have found the TS mux to be the most reliable in weak signal situations.
I have an amplified splitter in the roof, close to the aerial and one feed from there direct to the PVR, the rest scattered around the house. I would ensure your powered splitter is the one closest to the aerial and would agree with pBS that a decent amplified splitter, with a gain control is best.

The PCH does not support HE-AAC audio either. You might want to investigate post processing options. Also I was under the impression that h264/he-aac stream would use the TS Mux no matter what choice of mux you use.

Yes the powered splitter is in the roof close to the aerial. I need the second 4 way splitter at the PVR to feed 2 tuner cards, the TV directly, and a radio. I will see if I can get a good quality amplified splitter with gain control to use there.

To clarify for issue 1: my first objective is to get the TS Mux working properly on the PVR, not through the PCH. I just want to sort the audio issue so I can trial the TS Mux for a while and see if it allows glitch free playback.

Sorry, but this M32B cant play HE-AAC audio, so you wont get any audio from channels with HE-AAC.

The only NMT devices that support HE-AAC are the newer A200/C200 devices.

sudoku, I'm puzzled (I had to say that!) You've now got three threads on this.

Not to mention the thread I replied to on geekzone

Once I have finished my postprocessing.bat file to convert the HE-AAC to AC3 (might get it done tonight) , I will send you a copy, along with links to the apps you will need (VLC, mediainfo CLI version) and tell you where to put these (generally in the third party folder in GBPVR)

This will change the audio to AC3 after a recording is finished.
It checks what audio format the file is, and if it's AAC, then it will start the conversion. My testing has found about 4mins conversion time per hour of video. (and it leaves the video intact)
I have been testing what the A/V sync was like, and how skipping was in the converted file
(I was thinking of running it through a TS fixer program after the audio was done as I hardly watch anything in progress or live)

Someone much cleverer than I will need to tell you if doing real-time coversion for Live TV is possible (as my solution will only work for something where the recording is finished, not in progress or live)

Martin: is there any way of using the MVP transcoding logic to do live audio conversion?

JonnyCam, sub would have to add the support for on-the-fly transcoding of live TV to the PCH.
