For anyone out there with a Hauppauge remote that has some buttons that work in GBPVR but not NPVR, I discovered that in the irremote.ini file, the keys that map to {control}X - where X is a capital letter, work in GBPVR but not NPVR. But {control}x does work - where x is lowercase. I've got pause/play/stop/ff/rw etc to work that way. However channel up/down do not work, to go up a channel I have to press up twice (once to get the channel I'm on, then a second time to get the next on, then OK) - which is annoying for quick flicking. Also the i/menu button doesn't work to cut the crap in DVDs to take you straight to the main menu, like it does in GBPVR. Should these work??

Channel Up/Down broke on the MVP/PCH too because sub moved them to keypad -/+ I'd like to see it return to keys that remotes have.

I went smugly off to map channel up/down to +/- since as you say the keyboard +/- works. But for some odd reason the buttons on the remote still dont work. But it's late so I'll give up now and try again tomorrow. Dont see why it shouldn't work though (no idea about MVP/PCH).

Did you try {add} or {subtract} ?

I've got my remote's channel up/down mapped to PageUp/PageDown; that seems to work just fine for both GB-PVR and NPVR. That's also handy for paging in long lists of recordings, search results, etc.

edit: disregard this post, it turns out N-PVR was simply reading my MCE remote's channel-up/down buttons directly, it had nothing to do with being mapped to page-up/page-down

Mine was mapped to page up/down but doesn't work in npvr for changing the channel (works in gbpvr). Martin, no, I just had it mapped to + or - which I thought was likely the problem but it was too late to work out what I should have done, so I'll try {add} {subtract} - thanks!

Odd, I just double-checked, and I'm definitely mapped to page-up/page-down and it does work in NPVR for me. Weird.
edit: but I should mention I'm not using a hauppauge remote, rather an MCE type remote with keystroke mapping done via EventGhost

I changed mine to {add} {subtract} and it works! Thanks for that one. Anyone know if the "menu" button should take me straight to the main menu of a DVD without the fannying around? My wife will be cross if that's gone! I'm using the 45 button hauppauge.

Hi There BigMoose,

I have the same issue as you. Firstly ive duplicated the [PVRX2] section and renamed [nPVR].
Ive also added "nPVR= " to the [Applications] section.

That gets the directional buttons working on the remote - but nothing else at all works (and i mean nothing).

As ive seen mentioned in this thread - PVRX2 works perfectly well with the hauppauge remote - so its not the remote software as such. The trick is to get both PVRX2 and nPVR to both work using the remote Smile

Just so i dont get anything wrong - are you saying that if i change all the {CTRL} codes to be lower case it should work ?

I note in my irremote.ini the codes for some things are already lower case and they still dont appear to work.

As there have been multiple posts - each to do with a particular fix to get a partcular button working - Just to avoid any confusion here is the section related to nPVR (prior to any changes to case), and im wondering how this matches up with someone that has a hauppauge remote that works for all the buttons (including colour buttons, guide, start / stop etc etc).

While watching a DVD, pressing stop or escape/back should get you back to the DVD menu. I'll try to add Home key also for the next release (for those that have their remote's Menu key mapped to Home).
