Hi,

I have been following along with this thread. I am trying to use a card with only software encoding. I followed the instructions in the 'Getting Started' thread and am trying to install the three SoftPVR .ax encoders. I can only register hcw_mcmpeg2mux. Both the hcw_mcl2ae and hcw_mcm2ve fail - specified module could not be found.

What am I missing?

did you copy ALL of the HCW_*.* files? if you only copied out the .ax files, you'll get the error that the specified module could not be found.

Now I can see three devices:

ATSC AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC Tuner (present,disabled,0 channels)
Analog AVerMedia 716x BDA Analog Capture (present,enabled,0 channels)
QAM AVerMedia 716x BDA Analog Capture (present,enabled,0 channels)

I added this to my analogdevices.xml

<Device filter="AVerMedia 716x BDA Analog Capture">
<Name>AVerMedia 716x</Name>
<Type>SOFT_ENCODE</Type>
</Device>

However, when I select 'Live TV' it flickers once and returns to nPVR. I have attched all the logs.

OK, think I am getting somewhere. My analog device was set to fixed channel 2. I changed it to fixed channel 3. Now I at least get a black screen. When I look at the logs it appears as though it is still tuning to channel 2.

I see this is coming from the Channel_Mapping table in the database. Is there a way I can update this with a sql query?

Getting further, more by trial and error than anything else. I started from scratch and now have my device tuned to fixed channel 3. I have successfully loaded an epg. But I still just get a black screen when trying 'Live TV'.

I see two things that seem strange to me. It looks like it is trying to tune into channel 1, and I also see a message that says 'graph stopped'. I have attached the logs.

It looks like it's using channel 3 in those logs. Does a file get created in C:\TVBuffer, and is it bigger than zero bytes?

I went into the Avermedia application and something had disabled the card. I rebooted and it is working now. Don't know what caused it, never happened before.
