What confuses me is this line you wrote:
Backup gbpvr.mdb before it and replace in recordings table for example D:\PVR\TV to UNC then recordings won't disappear.

Can you please let me know what did you mean, I looked into this file with access for over an hour, tried to look for any reference to directories, and not I’m not sure what to change.

I've continued to experiment with this and all the client functions do work with the exception of Live TV. I found that I had made a server-end config.xml error and corrected it. But even after correcting that I still get the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error trying to use Live TV (the "server" is set for time-shift mode per the instuctions)

Is the "client" set to timeshift mode as well? In my setup I found I it worked.

It wasn't but I changed it to time-shift. Things changed but they didn't get better :-)

The first time I started the client I go an error that it couldn't connect to the RecordingService. I quit the client and restarted it and no I get failure to read the playback file.

I must still have some settings problems in one or the other config.xml.

Back to the drawing board.

i have managed to see all recordings on the "server".
my problem is that (and i have followed through all the manual you wrote <-- thank you), i can't see on the "client" computer the recordings on the "server", can't see the TV guide also.
can you please explain to a lamer like me :-) what did i do wrong?

Great thread this - being able to watch my TV shows on the laptop would be a dream come true! (I need to get out more).

I am also struggling to understand the precise steps on both the client and "server" that I need to follow in order to get this working. e.g. What is the "recordings table"

It got a bit scarey when I appeared to loose all my recordings!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The recordings table is the table called "recordings" which you can find located in the gbpvr.mdb file. You will need Microsoft Access in order to open the file.

Any further progress on the VLC solution for live TV over the LAN? I have VLC installed for watching recordings via the Web Interface and like the way it works and it's small footprint.

I've tried setting up a GB=PVR "client" and every thing works except when I try to play a recorded video or live TV I get no picture or sound and the gbpvr.exe.log has this: event code: 1

Any idea what I am missing? I've tried it on two different computers with the same results. At first I assumed it was a missing decoder so I installed the Hauppauge decoder but still no luck.
