Yeah these are a lot of videos I have gathered over the years, so I really don't know for sure what they are or what kind of condition they are in. As long as I have reinstalled that codec pack with the profile I'm using, and I have <ForceMpgGraph> set to false, they seem to play Ok for the most part. Here is the log from when they do play Ok.

Yeah, I'm guessing they're old MPEG1 files. I'd probably need to do some extra stuff to have it support MPEG1. I've never bothered with these since they're pretty rare these days, and no capture cards produce MPEG1.

Glad you found a combination that works though.

Yeah, every once and a while one of them will play without audio. I do have a pretty big problem still though with DVDs. I see the first logo clip play, for instance, Warner Bros on this DVD, and then it takes a very long time before I see the menu, and when I does come up, it does not function at all. Also any part of the DVD that does play, has no sound.

I've never used the ffdshow decoders for DVD, and I'm not sure they have CSS support. Have you tried other decoders?

Nope, I don't know a whole lot about video decoding and encoding. What decoder would you suggest, and how exactly would I change it just for DVDs?

Ok, I'm using this DTV-DVD Video Decoder that comes with Windows 7 now for MPEG2, and everything seems to be playing fine, including DVDs. At first there was no sound when playing AC3, but after installing AC3 itself, it started playing sound. I'm not sure what happened with the AC3 in this SAF5 codec pack. Only problem now, is on DVDs, and some other .mpg files, the sound is so low I can barely hear it, even with the volume all the way up. Anybody know why AC3 volume would be so low?

Have you tried turning up the volume in the decoder settings (the "..." button next to decoder choice in settings)?

Isn't that just going to turn up the volume for everything using ffdshow?

I was thinking about the AC3 settings, or do you use ffdshow for AC3 as well? I guess I assumed you were using AC3Filter.

Just make sure you didnt enable audio passthrough durning SAF install (AC3 problem).
Startind DVD ISO files can be slow (ISO needs to be mounted), it is better copy (rip) them directly to disc, but not in ISO format.
And you will need some "on the fly" dvd dectypter to play protected DVDs using SAF, like AnyDVD or DVD43.
AnyDVD is recomended by me, it will alow you to slow down your DVD drive, so it is noiseless and alow you to skip comersiols on DVD (jump directly to menu).

EDIT:
And you need to set <ForceMpgGraph> to false if you want to play MPG files using SAF - SAF will do it automatically durning install.
