All of my DVDs are already ripped to a server. I did enable audio passthrough during the install of SAF so how do I disable that?.. or maybe I already did when I reinstalled AC3?.. cause I have sound now, it is just extremely low volume.

BTW Sub, those .mpg files we were discussing earlier are actually mpeg2. Let me know if you see any other problem. Here's the file info:

@dspdrew:
Just reinstall SAF and click no to audio passtrhough.
AC3filter is not recomended by me, it doesnot support HD audio, but it will load to play it = no sound.

About your MPG issue - you should be able to play MPEG-1/MPEG-2 without any problem with SAF5, just make sure you have <ForceMpgGraph> set to false.

BTW, all of your DVDs have problems or only certain?
If you play them directly from disc = same issue?

There must be something strange about the way they're encoded then. I can see the Microsoft MPEG2 components dont like your .mpg files, and dont create pings for the audio/video streams the file contains. NPVR uses these Microsoft components for playback of .mpg files, and if these components dont work, then playback of these files isnt going to work in NPVR.

@hoborg

Yeah I have <ForceMpgGraph> set to false and It seems to play both mpegs ok. When you say problems are you referring to low volume? If so yes. Otherwise, they aren't really having any problems now.

Edit: I reinstalled SAF5 and turned on normalize and it looks and sounds like everything is fine now. Thanks hoborg, your codec pack seems to be working for me. I did however, have to change the MPEG2 Video decoder to Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, because DVD menus just were not working with ffdshow.

That is strange, DVD menus are working just fine for me, no idea what can be wrong...
BTW, SAF installed MPC-HC player with SAF, if you open your DVD here, do you have menus?

The menus seem to work fine when played in MPC. To be specific, when opening them using NPVR, i can hear the music or sounds from the menu and then about 20 to 30 seconds later the picture shows up, but the menus don't seem to function, at least I do not see anything moving on the screen when using arrow keys or the mouse.

There is another thing, and this may be a separate issue, but even when the menus are working fine with the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, it seems the overlay/hot tracking or whatever it is called, is a little off. For instance, as you move to the right, it actually moves further to the right than the background picture, and to the left it moves farther to the left than the background picture. To paint a better picture of what I'm describing, it seems as though the overlay/hot tracking is stretched more horizontally than the background picture.

Hi.
MPC-HC using exactly same decoders for DVD playback, so if menu works here, it should work in nPVR too.
Can you connect Graphstudio durning DVD playback and post the graph here (to make sure correct filters are in graph).
Just for test, can you try to install AnyDVD?
If you try to navigate by mouse, still the same menu issue?

@hoborg

I'm not sure if I want to go through all of that right now, since I'm pretty satisfied with it the way it is, but I may in the future once I have more important things configured.

@Sub

Back to my original question, I realize now that it actually is crashing the first time I open a folder with more than a few thumbnail images, then when I go out and back into it for the second time it doesn't crash. Basically I have to go into every folder at least once to eliminate the crashing. It almost seems like some sort of caching thing. Could there be something else wrong that is causing this?

It looks like you are having the same issues I'm having as this one I also reported in the pre release testing, yes I enter all the folders once to get rid of the problem & from then on all works fine.

What does the crash message say?
