If i try VMR9 then i get video with a total wrong aspect radio (NV GPU, Intel HD GPU). On one "F7" setting i get a picture that has ~ 200 pixels in width...
And as i wrote above: The last time i got even a gdi+ error after out of memory. But the memory wasn't full! It was far away to be full.

I am just playing around with the 4 MB clip from the other thread (you know, the guy with the problems of playback mpeg files).
I don't even need to press play or pause.

1. I start nPVR on this ATOM 330 / ION (easy setup, no network, only Microsoft decoders). NextPVR.exe consumes at this stage 74.788 KB
2. I play the 1st time the mpeg video. The memory usage raises up to 124 MB and stays after playback at 108 MB.
3. I play the 2nd time the same video. 166 MB while playback, 138 MB after
4. I play the 3rd time this video. 187 MB while playback, 167 MB after

This is no small kind of "leakage". 30 MB per small video is a big load. I am not sure if this amount is the same on all sized videos / codecs.

I'm not suggesting you switch to it permanently - I just want to determine if the renderer is a factor in your memory leak.

No, with vmr 9 it's not so bad as with evr. Perhaps a + of 1 MB per viewing, but this can be a lot of other things.

Thats more like the sort of increase I'd expect to see (which is used by OSD bitmap frame, and smaller bitmaps for elements like timeline, show info etc, and would be grabage collected later). So, it sounds like its definitely related to EVR. I'll take a look.

Huh, now that i am back at home i tested another file (dvd rip, mkv container x264/ac3). The above procedure (play, stop, play, stop) raises the used amount everytime 50 MB.

I don't know if this would help you: The OSD stuttering story, that many nPVR users experience: If i playback a file (network share), then there's no stuttering at all. I can move the mouse over the video how i want. If i do the same with live tv (streaming via network), then the appearing of the osd brings the video heavily to stutter and if i continue moving the mouse, then audio loses synchronity and the video stutters with 1 or 2 frames per second. This happens too, if i make exact the same on the server (which has the tv cards local).

Perhaps both thing has to do with each other, perhaps not. At first time i though "oh, stuttering... well, the osd is for sure calling some data from the server", but even the server itself stutters and has enough power, ram and speed.

I hope this kind of information would help you a little. If you need anything else, then just ask me please. I will try what i can.

I prefer to focus on one issue at a time. I'm more interested in memory usage, rather than introducing other topics like playback from clients and stuttering with OSD.

Was this with VMR9, or just EVR?

This big amount of ram was with EVR. I have just tried with VMR9. With the same movie and the same steps i have a raising consumption between 5 and 15 MB.

See if this patch helps your memory usage with EVR.

I would still expect to see some minor increase, maybe up to a few MB, but eventually it'll be garbage collected to level out. You shouldnt be seeing the 50MB or so you were reporting.

Yeah! This one works a LOT better. Instead 50 MBs it's consuming lesser than a half MB.
