Fatman_do Wrote:Yesterday I was going to post in this thread because I thought this was aboot really good Canadian rock bands stealing food. I held my breath hoping for a list greater than three. Rush was being mentioned instead of Triumph, so I thought this was just for the bubble gum crowd. Now I don't know.

Should I switch to Geiko?

I think I had a Triumph album at one time and remember saying it was a Rush rip off! What are they up to?
I'm hopeful that since Rush says they are adding shows mid and late next year that they will come to or close enough to New Orleans. Maybe by then they'll be finished with the latest cd and I'll have those new songs memorized for the show.
Here's a verse I have come to be singing lately as its talking about me:
I looked in the mirror today
My eyes just didn't seem so bright
I've lost a few more hairs
I think I'm going bald

Rush is soooo mainstream.

Fatman_do, what you be hatin on rush for? you're bringin us down, man! Rush is hugely successful over a 40 year musical career, but they're sure as hell not mainstream.

edit: missed your original post... Bubblegum crowd? dude. them's fightin' words.

Ooo, Triumph. They did some great songs too. I almost thought I was the only one remembering them...
I thought you were going to mention B.T.O., but then I checked and they were four. Thus disqualified for this thread.

I even searched Wikipedia for "Canadian Rock" and got a long article on the subject. The first image shown was Paul Anka(!) Big Grin

Fatman is from Michigan where another of my favorite bands hail from (Flint).....get ready to laugh.........Grand Funk Railroad. I was turned on early by a neighbor and was indoctrinated. I realized later they were not in the same league with Rush but for a while, they were a power trio as well.
I guess this thread will go on until we tire of sharing our likes and dislikes but again I have to smile when I think of where this thread has gone in comparison to where the original poster was going. Might break a forum record for number of posts.

I still listen to some of their music but by Rush, Genesis, U2 and others, it's rather simplistic. I have all their albums too. There was a time that all our little garage band played for GFR.
You know that the bass player and drummer are still together in a not so great GFR band today!
