UPDATE with regards WINTV 7, the latest (v2.2) is unable to be viewed with 7-ZIP, they (Hauppauge) have changed the method of storing the files (using MAC compression methods in the file i have), 7-Zip shows them them as 1 archive file.

I am working on a Hauppauge PVR-150 installed to get this working as i have a PVR-150.
Many Thanks
Ashley

Yes, we know. That's why all through this thread and in the instructions in both the wiki and sticky, you're told which WinTV7 download this method does work with. I guess I'm in a bit of a mood right now, but I'm getting really sick and tired of people who won't carefully read what other people have spent valuable time writing. We don't want to have to answer the same stupid question over and over and over again.

Nice tip mulletback, I must have missed this. I went to the Hauppauge site got the current version ran

wintv7_cd_2.2d.exe /x

- selected only WinTV7Setup.exe and then ran

WinTV7Setup.exe /x

and was able to select all the files needed. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post399082 They are even conveniently located together.

Simple answer, stop answering threads.... If this is getting you in a mood, only you will shorten your life.

Personally i feel all of this should be in a manual in a very easy location, that said i am created an install method that will fix the PVR-150 problem.

For me (at least) this means if i never need to install this again (and i bet i will) then i run one item which will do all the leg work for me, no moods needed, one answer needed, one download needed Smile

Documentation takes 5 times longer than the item created that it documents (i do it for a living).
Many Thanks
Ashley

Martin

I've just tried this too. Surely this is about the most pain free way to get the SoftPVR components, and from a reliable source Big Grin What I've been meaning to ask for ages is how does all of this stand with Hauppauge? i.e. documenting on the wiki how to get hold of these files from their installer?

cheers

Good find Martin and Mulletback. I'm boggled that I never thought to try /x on the WinTV7 installer. Most installers do have an extract-only option, and I use it frequently to pre-extract files onto a network drive for scripted installs, or to get driver files out of bloated installers, etc. Somewhere along the way I found the information about using 7-zip to extract the old 1.1b installer, and repeated it as gospel.

They'd probably be unhappy about it. I'd rather not talk to them about it Big Grin (I dont want to know the answer)

In the early days of NPVR, my official line was 'you'll only get analog if you happen to have WinTV7 installed' since we rely to components in that software. 3rd party software reusing their decoders etc would be of no concen to them, and this was good enough for me, because we'd mainly supported Hauppauge tuners for analog in the past anyway (with GBPVR). Somehow along the way it's morphed into a "this is how to extract it from the WinTV software without having it installed".

I can agree on that, but again; you may have noticed that npvr is still a beta, and you really can't expect the documentation to be finished prior to the actual project. And ALL people contributing to this do it on a vovoluntary basis, no one is forcing you to use npvr and it does not cost you anything.
