The less said about that the better. We document how to get the files. We don't post the files themselves. We don't talk about Hauppauge. It's like fight club...

In the early days of NPVR, my official line was 'you'll only get analog if you happen to have WinTV7 installed' since we rely to components in that software. 3rd party software reusing their decoders etc would be of no concen to them, and this was good enough for me, because we'd mainly supported Hauppauge tuners for analog in the past anyway (with GBPVR). Somehow along the way it's morphed into a "this is how to extract it from the WinTV software without having it installed".

Thanks Sub, but bottom line are you OK with this being documented on your wiki Big Grin

Big Grin And the 1st rule is, we don't talk about SoftPVR Big Grin

Hmmm, of course at the moment it is all plastered over this page:

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ugeSoftPVR

I even put twiddly TM's over everything, does that make it worse and make it stand out even more Wink

Maybe that wiki page ought to be made a little more subtle, with some words that imply an assumption that you're doing this with supported hauppauge devices; in turn the extraction method is for those who don't wish to install the entire WinTV7 package. Let us not be blatant about the fact that non-hauppauge devices will work too - the clever will figure that out, the less-clever can be nudged informally in the forum.

I'm generally ok with it, but may look more closely at the wording later.

I'd probably edit that current page to get rid of option 2/3, and replace it with a more subtle like - for those that dont want to install the full Hauppauge WinTV, or have lost their original CD, users have reported they can download the latest WinTV7 release and extract the required files using these commands: ....

He he, OK with 2 identical lines of thought there we'll flag this up as a 'grey' area... with work to do. I guess the balance here is getting as much on the wiki as possible to remove as many questions as possible on the forum. I emailed McBainUK earlier tonight about this very issue (SoftPVR) as I have a feeling that this is one that is going to come back and back and back again on the forums. How do I..........???? One of the true functions of the wiki really is to help and avoid repeated questions about the same thing each time. As a compromise, if we had a batch file to automate this extract method and register the filters for Hauppauge card owners who had lost their CD couldn't we dump that in a .zip as a utility in the utility section, perhaps inside could be a .txt explaining a few finer points?

ron7 Wrote:I installed the NextPVR. I enter setting to select my capture card (Hauppauge PVR-150MCE).
I see no devices on the list. It is empty.
I ran the FilterCheck. It lists my card as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture".
I checked the AnalogDevices.XML and it is on the list (the second one).

I do not know if it is related, but I saw in another area that I need to install something from the WinTV application. My capture card came without the application CD (was OEM) so I cannot download the software from the Hauppague site.

Can it be because my Windows 7 is installed on D: and the default data directory is c:?
Why is the list empty?

Please help.
Thanks
Ron

To make this work make sure:
NPVR is installed and opens ok (make sure its closed before running this)
NPVR is NOT setup as a PC client
Your PVR-150 card is installed
Windows drivers are installed for the PVR-150 card
Copy the WHOLE PVR-150 folder to the NPVR program install directory
Run as administrator (right click the install.bat and do this)
Read the readme file inside the zip file before running the program.

I think the above should fix your problem (let me know) Smile
Many Thanks
Ashley
