Hauppauge Remote control not working

I know Hauppauge had an interface that some apps (including GBPVR) used for direct remote access on the older PVR150/250/350/500 devices, but I'm pretty that isnt usable on newer devices.

MediaPortal does require the IR32 package to be installed so I presume it uses the .dll to interface with the remote, or something like that.

I have a Harmony remote that I've used previously for GB-PVR, when I installed NextPVR I copied the GB-PVR and PVRX2 sections to nPVR and NextPVR respectively in IRRemote.INI I found that everything worked except the Pause and Info buttons when playing back recordings or watching live TV. The Menu button works for Live TV but not for playing recordings. The keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-Q) works fine for pausing but not the remote, yet the remote works fine in GB-PVR. Does anyone have any ideas?

I seem to recall a post where someone said you have make sure your ctrl-key combos are specified in lower case for npvr, like ctrl-q instead of ctrl-Q.

You're a legend johnsonx42, change to lower case letters on the Ctrl commands did the trick. Just got the EPG to sort out now, it's only fetching from 6 days ago to tomorrow. But that's a story for another thread.

Has anyone used the black Hauppauge MCE edition remote with nPVR? I have my old silver 45-button remote from my HVR-1600 which works with nPVR just fine. My problem is that a couple of the buttons are worn out and don't work. I have the black Hauppauge MCE remote that came with my HVR-2250 but not all of the buttons are working properly with nPVR. I am using the IR Receiver that plugs into the capture card, not a usb receiver.

when you say "Not all of the buttons are working" can you indicate which ones are and aren;t working. It may provide a clue as to the nature of your problem.

There is the i key which on the silver remote brings up the guide with live TV in a window. The other key is an arrow pointing right <-- which I assumed was meant to be go back to the last channel. When I press the i key on the black remote nothing happens. When I press the <-- key on the black remote I get the guide without live TV showing. The prev ch button on the silver remote works fine.

Ok, I figured out the guide problem. The arrow <-- key on the black remote is the exit key on the silver remote and there is a different button to bring up the guide in live TV. The only thing I am missing is the prev ch function for the black remote. I have tried every remaining button without success for the previous channel function. I guess I can try tinkering with the irremote.ini file but I'm hoping someone has already done the leg work.

From NPVR's (and GBPVR's) perspective, the remote is handled outside of the app, and translated into fake key presses that are sent to the app. Assuming you dont have that problem with a real keyboard, then its sounding like that external IR software that is creating this problem.

I also have been trying to get volume working on my Haupage remote. Sub, what are the key mappings for volume control?
