I can't seem to solve this...

I have a Hauppage 250 card installed, and a 1600. Both worked fine under GBPVR. Now I can't get the 250 to work.

In my device manager, it comes up as a "Hauppage WinTV PVR PC II (Encoder 16)

In NPVR Devices, it shows up as "Hauppage WinTV PVR PC II Capture".
It's present and enabled, and has channels mapped to it.

For some reason, when I try to watch a channel with it in NPVR, I get the "Unable to find available capture device"

I"ve attached my logs, any help is great, thanks.

first, run a filtercheck and post the log; use the version listed under Utilities in post #3 of the tech support thread linked in my signature.
then, run nextpvr, go into Settings and view the devices screen, then exit and post the NPVR.log

also, your posted logs don't actually show the attempt to watch livetv using the 250. your method of zipping the files did not include the current NRecord.log. you may need to stop NRecord to get the log, or use Windows' built-in .zip handling which seems to be able to access open log files.

Ok, here are my log files, zipped again, (service stopped). And the output from running the filtercheck.exe.

Thanks.

ok, I see where it fails:
Code:
2011-02-02 22:51:44.316    [DEBUG][6]    AttachHardEncoder@4 (about to connect encoder)
2011-02-02 22:51:44.325    [DEBUG][6]    Hardware encoder not found. Attempting to fall back to software encoder.
2011-02-02 22:51:44.330    [DEBUG][6]    SetCaptureResolution()
2011-02-02 22:51:44.361    [ERROR][6]    Caught unexpected error in AnalogRecorder::SetCaptureResolution()
It can't hook up the device's hardware encoder, and then also fails to fall back to the software encoder.

It's detecting the device the same as it would a PVR-150, because it uses the same capture and encoder filter names. I suspect it's not finding the right pin name to hook up to - the encoder's output pin is named "Capture" which is not the usual name (and not the same as a PVR-150). I think there's supposed to be some mechanism in the driver called the "Pin Medium" that tells NPVR how to find all the needed pins, but it doesn't always seem to be correct.

Sub may need to patch the code to be able to use this device. Your thoughts sub?

Any thoughts, sub? Is this because my card isn't supported properly, or is there something I need to configure that I haven't?

Is this really a PVR250? I think the PVR250 didnt have encoder filter. Instead it put MPEG2 out of the capture filter. Yours seems to have an encoder filter. It possible Hauppauge have added one in the last few years since I last saw one though.

It's a 32062 rev b185 model; From 2004.

I just pulled this info from some other site... if it helps. This worked fine when used in the GB-PVR 1.47. It even looks like, at this time, the recording service tries to use it in N-PVR, but nothing is recorded.

Should I be doing anything to get this working? I hate to be that annoying guy begging for help, but hey, I'm totally at a loss. The only solution I can see is to go back to GB-PVR... which would make baby Jesus cry, because he's all about going forward, not backward.
