Hi,

I have a Hauppauge 2250 and am running Windows 7 Home. I'm using the latest version of NPVR (1.5.36) with the latest patches (NPVR 1.5.36 Patches Final). I had a digital QAM channel set up to record from 8:00 to 9:00 and an NTSC analog channel set up to tape from 9:00 to 10:00. The QAM channel recorded fine, but the analog channel recording never started. Upon opening NPVR, I noticed that the status of the recording was failed. I then tried to start the recording again (note that the digital recording was still in progress due to overlap) and it again failed.

Even though the 2250 is supposed to record:

1. Two analog channels at once (which I witnessed in NPVR).
2. Two digital channels at once (haven't tried yet).
3. One analog and one digital (fails for me).

I can only say the case of 2 simultaneous analog recordings seems to work. The problem seems to be related to a digital recording overlapping with an analog one. In the log, it seems that NRecord is attempting to start the recording/encoder. So, I'm wondering if this is a Hauppauge driver issue?

Any help/ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
(Log file attached).

It's not obeying the DeviceRules.xml correctly. We were exploring a problem like this in another thread, and never came to any final fix that I recall. A patch is needed, but there'll be no more patches for 1.5.36. You'll have to wait for the next version in a week or two, and if sub hasn't fixed it then he'll be able to patch it.

A temporary work-around would be to fiddle with the device order, like this:

1. Digital tuner #1
2. Analog tuner #2
3. Digital tuner #2
4. Analog tuner #1

This way you won't get a conflict until you try to record 3 programs instead of 2. edit: or if you want to be certain there will be no failures, just disable analog #1 and digital #2 altogether.

Okay, understood. Thanks for the assistance (and here's looking forward to the next release)! Big Grin

here's the other thread where this issue was discussed. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...erules.xml it's the same basic situation.

Thanks, I read the entire thread. Does sound similar except for the bit about him having a device on which only 1 recording (analog or digital) can occur at a time and having 2 of the devices. I have only 1 device, the 2250, so if it helps in debugging the issue, if you guys would like for me to try anything and post logs, just let me know. Thanks for the assistance!

Cheers,
tiger

(P.S. Just wanted to add a quick note. Thanks guys for taking time to support all of us and for all your hard work. We all appreciate it. And a huge thanks to sub for such a great application.)

But your one device is actually two devices, which each only can record 1 channel (analog or digital) at a time. From NPVR's perspective there's absolutely no difference between the two situations. Whatever fixes one will fix the other.

Gotcha, understood. That makes sense. I guess from the driver level under the OS, it looks like 2 independent devices each of which is addressed differently (or I should say independently).

Thanks,
tiger
