2.0.3 How do I use a remote control?

New dual tuner card. All configured with nPVR.
It comes with a remote control.
How do I configure this to work - is their software I need to run?

It has two buttons at the top - MCE and TV?

I tried installing the Hauppauge instructions here to no avail.

It came with the tuner card, so it has Leadtek (the tuner manufacturer) on it. The receiver plugs into the tuner card, so I guess it is driven by the tuner device driver.

yeah that makes it a bit harder
if it was a proper MCE remote then it would just work (shows as EH...something in device manager)
IM not sure what exactly will work but you will need a in between program to use

Is there any software that came with the remote that lets you program button to match key strokes, this would also work

OK, further googling and browsing the CD shows that, yes, there is software that comes with the remote that seems to be the necessary bit.
Its quite sophisticated, with different modes into which you can switch the remote - MCE, Winfast PVR2 (their PVR prog) and any that you care to program.
So, the obvious question becomes: should I try to use MCE or set up my own.

How does NPVR see remote control actions - simply as keystrokes? No special handling needed?
If so, is there a complete list of codes handled anywhere?
The remote comes with buttons for EPG, REC and the like. Are there single keystrokes that NPVR handles that would go immediately to the EPG, as opposed to backing up a menu, moving left a couple of times and then ENTER?

The software sort-of works - some keystrokes get programmed OK. For example, I can press the power button and start NPVR. Left/right/up/down work, but OK doesnt.

It sees remote control input as keyboard entry. This wiki page might help with you mapping.
