Randomly, when I start Npvr, or switch back from full screen, it goes out of screen.
Regardless what size or where it was.
I'm pretty sure this is fixed for the next release.

I'd missed your last post, so hadnt seen the logs, but took a look now.

The end of the log shows NPVR asking the device to stop, but request never completes. We've had quite a few people recording this same problem with GBPVR and NPVR over the years, but I've never been able to reproduce, so I'm pretty sure it's driver or device dependent. You'd probably recording service lockup in GBPVR with the same test.

time_lord Wrote:Have been using npvr less recently but set up two programs last night via 'Quick Record'. Unfortunately they didn't go well. Both were set to start at 10pm, one finish at 10:30, the other 10:35. However when I went to check the recordings this morning one was only 6min32sec, the other 6m35s. I have disk space available (although it may be fragmented - any prob with that?)
Are you on XP / Vista or Win7?

time_lord Wrote:Both recordings started on time at 21:59 and here is the nrecord.log from 21:59 (until 2am when my epg updates). Other than the fact that each recording was only 6 and a half minutes anyway, the logs reporting that everything is finished at 22:32 is bogus because one of the recordings was meant to finish at 22:37 (22:35 +2minutes buffer).
Code:

2011-04-08 22:32:08.115    [DEBUG][7]    Removing filter  MPEG-2 Sections and Tables
2011-04-09 02:00:02.927    [DEBUG][8]    About to update EPG
If you can post the log, I'll take a look.

Quote:The other thing that has gone wrong with these recordings - the menu for each one is missing a delete option. The options available are: Close, Play, Update, Cancel, Find all. (So I assume something within npvr didn't get fired, so it does not know they are finished and can now be 'deletable'?)
Can you zip and attach your npvr.db3? I'll check why they're not deletable.

From the path in the snippet above it look like he's on XP & to me this smells suspiciously similar to the problem peanunt & I were having in this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...recordings which turned out to be the psisdecd.dll bug in XP, we followed the update advice in post 11 & 12 (I think it is) & it totally fixed the problem for us.

Yes, I'm on XP SP3. I had a look at notes 11 and 12... I don't use MediaPortal or have XP Media Center Edition, so is the suggested fix relevant? I can try it but tend not to install things unless I have to...

You'd be right, I never saw this in GBPVR but then I never pushed GBPVR this hard... I only pushed NPVR like this because it crashed the first time I tried multiplexed recordings (and I never tried out all that multiplexed bizzo in GBPVR). I.e once I knew of the problem I found it sort of easy to reproduce.

The psisdecd.dll bug doesn't just affect MediaPortal it affects a lot of different PVR software & it does seem to affect NextPVR in some situations more than it did GB-PVR as well as peanut found out. The fix that is posted on the MP site is the simple way to get the files & replace them with the least hassle that was why it was linked in that thread...... why Microsoft didn't put it out as one of their update bug fixes only they would know :confused:

As another xpsp3 holdout, I found the psisdecd.dll fix critical to reliable performance. In my configuration, however, I only register psisdecd.dll and mpeg2data.ax from the "dvbfix" package. For me, registering psisrndr.ax caused other problems. YMMV.

Dunno if that will help now... after mentioning yesterdays hang and I rebooted, now when I go into recordings those two problem ones are deletable and on the parent list (of recordings) each one shows "Recording service not running at recording time". That last bit isn't quite right because I did get the first few minutes of the recording, so maybe it simply fell over partway through.
Anyway looks like npvr righted itself and I can delete them now ;-)
