I am looking at configuring up a system to gbpvr. I am looking for feedback of TV cards. Basically what I have read seems to point to a hauppauge either PVR-250 or 350 as a solid card to use.

I am in Ireland, and looking at the UK website, is see that the 500 is not offered, so I assume two 350 cards are as good as it gets for the moment, if you want to record and view at the same time. I assume that the 500 is not a PAL card.

Some additional questions ( while I am at it )

Getting an EPG that support Irish channels, ie RTE 1,2, TNG and TV3. Does anyone have any points to implementation experience. Basically I will be setting this up on a firewall behind a broadband connection, so there is no problem picking updates, its where to get them ?

Regarding the video card on the box running gbpvr. I don't intent to view TV output on this box, ie everything will be viewed via the MVP. Based on this I assume there is no requirement for a fast Video card, but rather alot of memory is the main requirement.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hello mate. I wouldnt get a PVR350 unless you need the TVout. A PVR500 is just 2 PVR150's back to back. It should come in PAL flavour. If you need an analogue card get PVR150's. Start with 1 and work your way up. For XML. Look Here

AMD Sempron 2400+ 1.67GHz (Socket A) CPU

You can get pvr500 pal versions http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductIn...tID=176820 to prove my point not sure if they ship to Ireland though. It looks like xmltv radio time picks up the epg for RTE 1,2 and TV3 not sure on TNG though.

Thanks,

I got a 150 in the end. Basically I went with the advice to get one card and verify everything is working before paying for 2 or a 500. As for TBG, it is on the radio times as TV4 ( they changed the channel name a while back ).

Thanks for all the pointers. Off to cobble together a machine to run this lot off next..
