Extremely sluggish PCH Menu and then won't play file?

Finally...!

I couldn't for the life of me work out why my test file was not showing up in the mvpmc share. Spent half a day reading about shares again, removing and remaking the share over and over.

Then I course, my Eureka momeent; I realised I have a USB Stick in the PCH downtstairs, from which I boot the PCH, with a mvpmc dir in it ...

It is that share Putty was finding...arrgghh! Sorry about that.

I waited around a quarter hour and got what is in the log attached.

I also read on the NMT forum about sleep settings possibly stuffing up the network speeds for the PCH. Will play with that, but at first glance - Is this likely to be PCH problem?

Looking forward, if I have to replace the PCH, the WIKI says "The following are known to work with mvpmcx2 + NextPVR Popcorn Hour (PCH) A100, A110, B110, (The x-200 series are not completely working at this stage), EGreat M34a, HD Digitech HDX 1000 (There are others but I can't confirm them at this time). Someone was also asking about an Egreat EG-M31C - does this work? Are there any other new ones that work?

So ...I tried plugging it into my other (onboard) NIC ... bypassing the router and straight to PC -> SUCCESS

But I had already tried a Router Swap, so I knew it wasn't that ...

So I uninstalled and deleted the NIC drivers .. and VOILA => SUCCESS even on teh old NIC, via the Router, as before.

Goodness knows what I did to the NIC settings before.

Sorry for all the hassle.... :o Computers!! .... taken me a week on and off to fix.

Good I am glad you got it. The speed tests you did were awful, I am surprised that you could even use mvpcmx2, you were less than 128kbs.

As for info on the wiki, it is up to users to report what works and doesn't from the first generation of NMT's Before buying one I'd get the vendor web site to see if you can get firmware updates. The last Popcorn Hour update added support for new mkv files, but this might not be a need for everyone.

I don't support the 2nd gen. machines, and now that Syabas is publicly talking a new machine this year I don't know if I will. I still think the $105 refurbished A110 on the Popcorn Hour web site are a good deal and something I am surprised more NPVR users haven't picked up one.
