I have just rebuilt my system following a C drive failure. It's not been too bad but something is not quite right with my tuners/epg. I have three active tuners (DVB-T, DVB-S and PVR 150) plus a pinnacle that is disabled. I recorded three programs using all three tuners last night but cannot do the same tonight - 'No tuner available for this recording'. I can set two but not the third. Logs don't show anything so is there a way to increase debug logging so that I can see why it thinks it's not possible?

Still can't work this out having checked all the obvious things (all channels on all tuners, all tuners enabled, no other recordings etc) and this may not be related at all but I don't remember there being three analogue devices before my disk crash:

Should they be there as I only have one Hauppauge 150?
Why are they related to my digital tuners?
Of course they may have been there before but I just don't remember them!

the other analog devices are just the analog side of your digital tuners. you can ignore them if you're not using them that way.

to fix your bigger issue, just remove the Hauppauge 88x family section of your DeviceRules.xml. NPVR thinks your DVB-T and DVB-S tuners are the same combo device rather than two separate devices (Hauppuage has several devices like that). If you look in DeviceRules.xml it will become clear.

OMG.
As soon as I read that my memory came flooding back. I had this very same problem when I first set up NPVR back at christmas. I can't believe I forgot about it, what a t**t. Sorry, and thanks for the reply.
I'm off now to sort out a backup of my C drive...

Off topic but does it work ok playing HD on a P4 3GHz? I'm asking because I'm thinking about setting up a htpc for a poor friend, and I have a working mainboard with a P4 2.8 GHz lying in a drawer...

Works fine, I don't seem to have any problems with power. It's regularly recording 4 programs simultaneously while wathing a fifth. Don't watch/record that much HD, but when I do it's always been fine. I've never recorded multiple HD at once though, might try that soon to see what happens.

its not the recording you need the grunt for its the playback
so to play HD you need a grunty pc or a semi decent video card
This is where the crunch comes because there are bugger all agp video cards and for the same as you get with pcie they are double the price.
Windows 7 is the best for HD playback but drivers for old motherboards dont exist so this can cause issues also

Oh yes, should have added that my PVR is just a server, we use a PCH/MVP to view so video display is not an issue...

My server is a P4 2.8 with an AGP nvidia FX5200 under XP and it cannot manage HD. It tries but is chunky. No problem at all recording it and multiple other sources or supplying it to NMT's. I haven't bothered researching alternative video boards as it is always going to be just a server.

Mmm, I guess that with an ATI3450 (or better) it would play HD just fine. At least under W7.
