Hello,

I hope you can help me with the following issues.
  1. I can watch a TV channel but I cannot switch to another channel, the picture freezes if I try to do so. Exception, i.e. working: If I submit the "Stop" command at the current channel and select then a other channel.
  2. I have about 100% CPU "one-core" load, i.e. approx. 13 % gets consumed from NDigitalHost.exe + NextPVR.exe distributed over my 4 physical cores plus 4 HT cores (intel core i7).
At my other PC (which is planned as new home for NextPVR) I have seen the same behavior for both topics (but due to the there used core i3, the CPU load is much higher: 50%).

What can I do? Thank you!

Unfortunately it seems to be virtually impossible to get it working 100% correctly with all SAT>IP device....they all behave differently grrrrr. It works well with the two types of devices I have - a Digital Devices Octopus, and a Telestar DIGITBIT R1

I don't follow you. Are you saying NextPVR is using 13% CPU (sound about normal), or 100% CPU (does not sounds normal)?

1. "SAT>IP device ....they all behave differently" Yes, but could you get it running lets say if I donate 100 EUR? Here in Germany the AVM Fritzbox devices are very popular but the manufacturer does not provide useful TV-software and many people would like to use their "4 extra tuners" also for recording purpose (watching TV works with the manufacturer SW, recording not).

Digital Devices: German TV tuner technology landed in New Zealand, wow. I have also a Digital Devices Cine C/T (V6) dual Tuner card (DVB-C, too) but here it simply tells "Unable to start device: Device failed to start". So this HW does not work at all …

2. core i7: 8 cores * 13 % = 100 % at a one core CPU / core i3: 2 cores * 50% = 100 % at a one core CPU. Now it should be clear, isn't it?

Which process is using this CPU?

When you try changing channels, does a new file get created in your live tv buffer directory? Does the new file have any data in it?

Almost all CPU load is triggered by 'NDigitalHost.exe'.

Not really sure why it'd be using that much. I've not seen other reports of NDigitalHost.exe using significant amounts of CPU. For the most part, it's just receiving data from a device (or network in this case), and writing it to disk. These activities are usually not very CPU intensive. When I get a chance, I'll find one of my SAT>IP devices and check the CPU usage with one of those.

Yes, a new file gets created and the previous disappears. The new files has zero bytes (but / and the CPU load is as before, i.e. something is going on).

I don't know if this helps: I have installed the "PVR IPTV Simple Client" in Kodi (as test) and here the channel switch works well.

Can you supply a clean set of logs just showing a single failed channel change?

ie, restart the recording service (to reset the logs), then start on one channel, leave in on that channel for say 30 seconds, then try changing to another channel, wait 30 seconds or so, then zip and post the logs. Make sure you use NextPVR.exe as the front end for this test, not kodi.
