Here's info on a new Hauppauge product via Facebook
http://www.facebook.com/hauppaugecompute...noscript=1

"The Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 dual tuner digital cable card receiver. It's like having a cable TV set top box for your PC! Only $129.- for the dual tuner USB model. Here's the rear view showing where you plug in the cable card.

The WinTV-DCR-2650 is a collaboration between Hauppauge and Silicon Dust."

They snuck this out pretty quietly. A USB version too! Wonder if it's USB 3.0 ready.

Any word on whether "copy freely" content will be recordable with non-Windows Media Center software like NPVR? That would be pretty sweet!

Unconfirmed at this stage. If 'copy freely' content is usable in non-WMC apps though, then you can be sure I'll also make sure NPVR has this capability too. We'll know more in the coming weeks.

Not a bad price for a new dual tuner card.

If NPVR supported this I'd be on it for 1 right now.

I just pre-ordered one.

Sub: If there's anything that I can do to help along support in NPVR, just let me know!

whurlston is working on getting copy freely working with the Ceton cablecard tuner in NPVR so he might chime in on what he's done so far.

Which I see for only $269 at Newegg today.

I hope that sub will work his magic for the new DCR 2650.

As of yesterday, NPVR does work with this Hauppauge DCR-2650 with 'copy freely' channels (albeit with quite a few rough edges at this early stage).

For now its not identifying during scan channels are 'copy freely' vs 'copy once', but I should hopefully be able to add that in future. You'll always be at the mercy of the cable company changing them later though, once PC recording devices become more common. I'm sure you'll come to hate these flags - it sounds like the Tivo community do.
