Help needed for UK setup

Hi Smeghead,

I'm just about to set up a PC for a friend to use as a PVR with Telewest. Is there any chance you could pass on the text file you use for the channel mapping? It would save me some pain and would be much appreciated.

Sorry but am really new to this and it seems like you might be able to help or at least shed some light.
I have acquired a Happauge USB2 unit to use as a PVR for home.

Now I thought that I could connect my NTL cable directly into the USB2, which does work, although not getting all the channels. Also when the GBPVR software fires up, you see some static on the screen and then the dredded Send/Dont send from microsoft. Seems not to crash when you plug the cable in after the unit is up.
The Wintv2000 software from Happyplage seems to work. Is there channel mappings that I need to enter for NTL???

If you run the tuning assistant app, do you find most of your channels?

Alternatively, NTL maybe transmitting these channels either encrypted or in digital form, which means the PVR USB2 wont find these channels.

Are you plugging the actual NTL cable directly into the USB device? If so, I'd be surprised if that works. On some NTL boxes there is an RF output but that does not seem to carry all the channels by any means. IMHO your best bet is to connect from one of the Scart outputs on the NTL box to the line-in input(s) on your USB tuner, and use an external channel changer (e.g. redremote serial) so that GBPVR can change the channels on the NTL box.

You might be able to get a couple of the analogue channels that are transmitted alongside the digital channels, but all the digital channels are encrypted

Also NTL won't be very happy with you connecting their cable directly to your card. You must go via the STB
